The Big Bash League is entering its most crucial phase and we are already seeing the points table taking shape. In this context, the next game between Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat would be a very important one for both sides. The side winning the game has the opportunity of going to the 3rd spot on the points table. These two sides had played against each other in their previous game where the Brisbane Heat had registered a convincing win.
Adelaide Strikers have had a mixed bag of the season so far where they have played well in some games and looked ordinary in others. The scale of defeat they suffered in the last game would have surely hurt their confidence. As they go into the next game they will have to recover from the low of the last game and play well.
Brisbane Heat is a very strong side and they won’t make it any easy for their opponents.

Travis Head’s side suffered a big loss in the last game going down by 7 wickets. It was their worst show with the bat this season and this is something the side will have to work on as they go into the next game. Head would hope his side is able to leave this loss behind and concentrate on doing well against the same opposition in the next game.
Their batsmen have to come up with a better show in the next game after the disappointment of the last encounter. Jake Weatherald and Phillip Salt need to provide the side with a good start. Head, Jonathan Wells and Harry Neilson will need to focus on building partnerships.
In Matthew Short and Michael Neser they have good hitters of the ball down the order. The form of Peter Siddle is a big plus for the side going into this game. The side will need a good start with the new ball from Rashid Khan and Michael Neser with Khan having to play the crucial role of drying up the runs for the Brisbane Heat. Harry Conway and Liam O’Connor will have to provide good support given the strong batting line up they will be up against.
Michael Neser, Philip Salt, Matthew Short, WA Agar, Harry Nielsen, Jake Weatherald, Liam O'Connor, Peter Siddle, Rashid Khan, TM Head, JW Wells
Chris Lynn would be very impressed with the way his side played in the last game. It was a one-sided contest where their batsmen and bowlers dominated. Playing Strikers again would make the side very confident. Lynn would want his side to carry the same form and win this game to go up on the points table. In the batting department, the side looks good with Chris Lynn in good form. Max Bryant who has missed out in the last couple of games shall look to do well in this game.
AB de Villiers has added an edge to their batting. Matt Renshaw looks in good form. Down the order, the side has good hitters of the ball in Ben Cutting and Joe Burn and these players will look to do well in the next game. James Pattinson bowled incredibly well in the last game and was well supported by Josh Lalor.
Ben Laughlin who is expected to make a comeback adds to the strength of their bowling attack. Mujeeb ur Rahman bowled a miserly spell in the last game and this makes them a very good bowling attack that will be tough for their opponents to handle.
Ben Cutting, AB de Villiers, Ben Laughlin, Matt Renshaw, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Chris Lynn, Joe Burns , Josh Lalor, Mitchell Swepson, Jimmy Peirson, Max Bryant

It will be clear skies over Adelaide on January 17 making it a perfect day for a game of cricket. The pitch has played well so far in the tournament with several high scoring games. Fast bowlers do get some assistance in the early overs but by and large it is a batsman’s wicket. A score of 180 runs would be something that the team batting first would target.
Adelaide Oval is one of the best venues for batsmen in Australia. The pitch has true bounce and pace which allows the batsmen to play their strokes. The shorter boundaries around the square region also make it an ideal venue for the batsmen. Fast bowlers have done well here and the spinners also get some assistance in the second innings.
The pitch at this venue has produced several high scoring encounters this season and most teams have preferred to bat here. With the weather conditions expected to be perfect during the game we expect the side winning the toss to bat first on this surface.
Hosts Adelaide Strikers are under pressure having lost the last game miserably. It was a poor effort from their batsmen.
Brisbane Heat on the other has had played well in the last few games after the string of losses at the start of the season. They have a very strong batting line-up which would fancy scoring on this flat deck. Going into this game we consider the Brisbane Heat to start as favorites.
