There is a lot at stake as Adelaide Strikers host Hobart Hurricanes for the 55th game of the Big Bash League. This will be the last league game for both sides.
Adelaide Strikers are currently sitting second on the points table and shall aim to retain this spot with a win in front of their home crowd. For Hobart Hurricanes this game is important as a loss could very well end their run in the season. The Strikers are in great form going into this game. They have won their last four matches where their batsmen, as well as bowlers, have impressed. They had defeated the Hurricanes earlier in the season and shall look to carry that confidence forward. The Hurricanes have also won their last two games and all this will make the next game very interesting for the fans on both the camps.

Travis Head can’t ask for more from his side after they registered the 4th consecutive win in the last game against the Perth Scorchers. The 16 run win came on the back of clinical performance from the side. Head would want the team to carry the same momentum and win it in front of their home crowd.
Batting looks good for the side with the kind of form Jake Weatherald is in at the moment. He will look to provide a good start in the company of Phillip Salt. Jonathan Wells has scored heavily this season and shall be looking to continue the same way.
Travis Head and Alex Carey are good players in the middle order and Rashid Khan towards the end adds punch to their batting. Rashid Khan has been the pick of the bowlers this season and shall look to trouble the Hurricanes with his tight line and length. Wes Agar and Peter Siddle’s show with the ball in the last game would give them confidence. Billy Stanlake and Michael Neser will be aiming to keep the line tight and help the side win.
Michael Neser, Philip Salt, Matthew Short, WA Agar, Alex Carey, Jake Weatherald, Peter Siddle, Rashid Khan, TM Head, Billy Stanlake, JW Wells
Matthew Wade would be excited about the kind of performance his side put up in the last game. They won it by 57 runs against the Sydney Thunder. They need to win this one to keep their chances alive for the playoffs. Having already lost against the Strikers earlier in the season the side will be looking to avenge that in this game.
D’Arcy Short and Matthew Wade at the top make the batting order very strong for the side. Macalister Wright goes into this with two good performances. George Bailey and Ben McDermott have also batted well this season and the only worrying factor for the side has been the form of David Miller and he needs to do well for the side in the next game.
In the bowling department, James Faulkner and Scott Boland look in good form but the side will want Clive Rose to improve upon his economy rate. Short’s five-wicket haul in the last outing would be a confidence booster for the side. They will expect a good show from Qais Ahmed and Riley Mere in the next game.
Scott Boland, Nathan Ellis, Clive Rose, Ben McDermott, Matthew Wade, David Miller, Mac Wright, D'Arcy Short, George Bailey, James Faulkner, Qais Ahmad
There would be clear skies at Adelaide on January 26 and the pitch is expected to be a good one to bat on as we have seen in the last few games that have been played at this venue. The bowlers will get early purchase from the surface but overall it is a batting track and the side batting first will need a score of around 170 runs to win here.
One of the finest T20 grounds in Australia the Adelaide Oval balances it out between the batsmen and the bowlers. While the bowlers are able to extract early rewards from the wicket the shorter boundaries around the square makes run scoring easy. Spinners have to bowl well to do well at this venue.
It is a win the toss bat first kind of a wicket. With the weather expected to be dry batmen will be able to play their strokes freely. The side that wins the toss should bat first on this surface and apply pressure on the opponents.
Adelaide Strikers have been the team to watch out in the last two weeks of the league as they have gone from one victory to another. They would target a win in this game and play the Melbourne Stars in the Qualifiers.
Hobart Hurricanes would also come into this game with confidence having won their last two games. Strikers are playing at home and the kind for form their batsmen are in at the moment will give them edge going into this game.
