The competition is heating up and the points table is taking shape in the Big Bash League 2019-20. In the next game hosts Adelaide Strikers would be up against the Sydney Thunder at Adelaide Oval.
The Strikers come into this game after an impressive win against the Melbourne Renegades. The side hasn’t lost a game this season. As for the Sydney Thunder, they were unlucky to have lost the last game against the Sydney Sixers in the Super Over. It will be a big challenge for the Thunder in this game given the fact that they don’t have the best of records against the Adelaide Strikers. With the kind of form the hosts have been so far this season Thunder can’t expect an easy game.
It remains to be seen how the team from Sydney approaches the game which has all the ingredients to go down to the wire.

Alex Carey’s side has done well so far in the season and with the win over Melbourne Renegades in the last game they have moved to the top of the points table. They are playing well as a team and Carey would want his players to keep up with the same momentum in the next game. As far as batting goes Philip Salt gaining form is good news for the side. Jake Weatherald will be looking to do well in the next game after missing out on the last one. In Carey and Jonathan Wells they have two in-form players and they will look to carry on with their form.
Rashid Khan and Cameron White add strength to the batting line-up down the order for the side.
Rashid Khan bowled his team to victory in the last game with an incredible bowling spell and makes the bowling attack look strong. Billy Stanlake and Wes Agar also did well in the last game and this would make the skipper confident. Carey would want senior pro Peter Siddle to bowl tighter lines in the next game.
Cameron Valente, Philip Salt, Matthew Short, WA Agar, Alex Carey, Jake Weatherald, Peter Siddle, Rashid Khan, CL White, Billy Stanlake, JW Wells
It was a sad loss for Callum Ferguson’s side which had done well in the last game against Sydney Sixers to nearly defend a small total only to lose in the Super Over. The skipper would want his team to get that disappointment off their minds and focus on winning the next game against a tough opponent.
Usman Khawaja and Alex Hales look in good form at the top of the order and this gives confidence to the side. Ferguson also played well in the last game with Alex Ross down the order supporting him well. In Matthew Gilkes, Chris Morris and Chris Green they have good hitters down the order and these players will look to do well in the next game.
Daniel Sams has been economical so far in the season and has to play a key role in the next game. Jonathan Cook’s show with the new ball in the last game was quite impressive. Chris Tremain who bowled the infamous last over will look to recover in the next game. With Morris and Green, the side completes a good bowling attack.
Alex Hales, Daniel Sams, Nathan John McAndrew, Arjun Nair, Matthew Gilkes, Christopher Green, Chris Morris, Usman Khawaja, Callum Ferguson, Jonathan Cook, Alex Ross
The weather would be clear over Adelaide on the 31st of December and it would be perfect conditions for a game of cricket. The pitch will offer some assistance to the fast bowlers but batsmen aren’t likely to face much of a problem. We expect to see a score of around 170 runs on this surface.
Adelaide Oval is a good venue for T20 cricket as the smaller dimensions of the ground around the square makes it a good for the batsmen compared to other venues in Australia. Fast bowlers also extract early bounce and carry from the surface and the slowness of the surface also assists the spinners.
The wicket will be a good one to bat on early in the innings and is expected to slow down as the game progresses. Most teams have preferred to bat first on this surface and the skipper winning the toss is most likely to choose to bat on this surface.
The Adelaide Strikers have so far had a wonderful run in the season and have won all their games. Their clinical win in the last game is a testimony to the kind of form the side is in at the moment. Sydney Thunder, on the other hand, comes into this game after a heartbreaking loss in the super over in the last game. The Strikers are playing at home and would have the crowd behind them which shall make them favorites going into the game.
