Australia has taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in the three-match T20 series in Canberra. This after the first game at Sydney saw no result due to rain. As the two sides now go into the last game at Perth the Pakistanis will have to play out of their skins to win this one as the hosts have looked in sublime form with the bat and the ball. The wicket at Perth is likely to test the grit and determination of the Pakistani players.
Pakistan is in the middle of a poor run in T20s. The side came into this series having suffered a 3-0 whitewash at home at the hands of the Sri Lankans and had nearly lost the first game in this series before rains came to their rescue. They did well in parts in the last game but will need a complete team effort if they are to stop the Australian juggernaut which is on full steam at the moment.

There seems to be no stopping for Aaron Finch’s side this summer and in the last game they registered another remarkable win and shall now be aiming to seal the series in the next one at Perth. Finch would be very confident going into this game as his batsmen and bowlers are in good form. It was a super innings by Steven Smith at No. 3 that saw his side home in the last game. With openers Aaron Finch and David Warner already having looked in great form in this series, Australian top order looks rock solid.
Ben McDermott did well in the last game and along with Alex Carey and Ashton Turn completes a good batting line-up for the side. It is the Australian bowling attack that has been the reason behind team’s success. The pace duo of Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc have been in great form so far and they would be looking to pick early wickets. Kane Richardson was expensive in the last game and shall look to do well in this one. Adam Zampa along with Turner makes this bowling attack look very strong at the moment.

Babar Azam is under pressure to save the series. Though his side didn’t play badly they were way behind Australia which led to their loss. Batting line-up is looking in bad form collectively. The skipper would wish to see better efforts from his side going into the next game with the aim of preventing fifth consecutive loss in this format. Babar Azam looks in good form with the bat but he will need good support from Fakhar Zaman who has failed in both the games.
Imam-ul-Haq is likely to replace Haris Sohail in the next game. Iftikhar Ahmed played a good cameo in the last game but the side would hope to see better efforts with the bat from Asif Ali and Mohammad Rizwan who haven’t done well so far in the two games. Pakistani bowling attack looked toothless in the last game especially Mohammad Irfan and Mohammad Amir with the new ball. Wahab Riaz too looked in poor form. They will have to bowl well in the next game. Mohammad Hasnain may be tried out on the fast pitch at Perth. Imad Wasim isn’t likely to get much assistance from the surface and will need to stick to a tight line.

The weather at Perth is expected to be slightly cloudy on November 08 and this would assist the fast bowlers on a wicket that is known to help them. Batsmen will have to get their eyes in before starting to hit out. Batting would be a challenge and any target over 150 runs would be a difficult one for the side chasing the score.
The pitch at WACA Ground Perth has been known to historically assist the fast bowlers. There is pace and bounce on this surface which batsmen have to negotiate in the early overs. Spinners don’t have much of a role to play on this surface where the ball skids on and doesn’t grip.
Perth is known to be a good surface for fast bowing and with the slightly overcast conditions the ball is expected to move around along with the normal pace and bounce. The side that wins the toss would choose to bowl first on this surface and exploit the early conditions here.
The Australian team has had a wonderful summer and in both the games they have played against Pakistan, the side has looked dominant. Going into the last game of the series the hosts would be in no mood to lift their feet of the accelerator pedal. Pakistan has a big challenge on hand and will need to play out of their skins to defeat the hosts. As things stand at the moment Australia would start as favorites to win this game and take the series 2-0.
