The Australian team sealed the T20 series 3-0 in what was a dominating performance from the side in the series so far. As they go it to the first ODI game at Allan Border Field, Brisbane the team would be extremely confident about their prospects. Sri Lanka Women have had a poor tournament so far where their batters have been in extremely poor form and will need to come up with a better show in the ODI series.
The problems for the Sri Lankan side are compounded by the fact that they have never won an ODI game against the Australians. They have lost by big margins in most games and are struggling to cope up with the bounce and pace on Australian surfaces. The side would need to make a miraculous comeback in the first ODI to defeat Australia Women who are looking in great form at the moment.

Meg Lanning wouldn’t have any complaints about the performance of his side leading up to the ODI series. They played well in the T20 leg of the series where all their plans worked as they troubled the Sri Lankans. Lanning would want her side to carry on with the same form in the ODI series and take a 1-0 win in the first game. Batting looks very strong for the side with Alyssa Healy at the top along with Beth Mooney and both these players are in great form at the moment.
The middle-order has proven performers in the form of Rachael Haynes, Lanning and Ellyse Perry. These players have good hitting abilities and would want to do well in the next game. The bowling attack looked good in the T20 series. Ellyse Perry and Megan Schutt will look to trouble the Sri Lankan top order in the upcoming game. Georgia Wareham and Jess Jonassen add variety to the bowling line-up. They have performed well against the Sri Lankans in the T20s and would look to do the same in the next game.

Shashikala Siriwardene has a big challenge on her shoulders as she leads her side in the first ODI. The team has fared poorly in the T20s where they failed to adjust to the challenging conditions in Australia. The skipper would want her girls to show some character as they play the next game.
In the batting department, Chamari Athapaththu looked good in the T20 series and would have to carry her form into the ODIs. Anushka Sanjeewani will need to do well after her failure in the T20s. The side would also expect a better show from the likes of Harshitha Madavi, Nilakshi de Silva and Hansima Karunaratne in the next game against the strong Australian bowling line-up. As far as bowling goes the side has done well but they will need to make better use of the conditions in the next game. Udeshika Prabodhani and Ama Kanchana will need to do well with the new ball. Siriwardene will need to use all her experience in the game. With Oshadi Ranasinghe in the attack, they will look to trouble the Australians.
Hansima Karunaratne, Shashikala Siriwardene, Harshitha Madavi, Chamari Atapattu, Nilakshi de Silva, Achini Kulasuriya, Udeshika Prabodhani, Dilani Manodara, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Anushka Sanjeewani, Inoka Ranaweera
The weather would be perfect with clear skies and comfortable temperature. The pitch would be a good surface to bat on and we expect it to be a high scoring encounter. The fast bowlers are likely to get some early moment off the pitch but the surface would ease as the game progresses.
Allan Border Field, Brisbane has had the history of being a good batting surface. The pace and bounce on this surface is true which makes batting easy. The fast bowlers get early assistance from the surface. There isn’t much for the spinners on this surface and they need to be smart to pick wickets here.
The pitch would be a good one to bat on and the weather conditions would also be perfect. The ball is expected to move slightly during the morning and batting would become easy as the game progresses. The side winning the toss would most likely bowl first and make early use of the conditions.
The T20 series is done and dusted and as expected Australia Women have won that leg of the series convincingly. Their batters, as well as bowlers, looked in good form in all the three games. Sri Lanka Women, on the other hand, struggled in all the games. They will need to come up with much better show if they are to trouble the Australians. Form and skills separate the two sides and Australia Women at the moment would start clear favorites to win the first ODI.
