The stage is set for another enthralling encounter when the host side Bangladesh will take on Afghanistan in the final of the tri-series at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on Tuesday.
Bangladesh finally broke the string of losses, which had stretched to four successive ones, to pick up a four-wicket win over Afghanistan in the last league game of the tri-series on Saturday. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan was the star performer, his unbeaten 70 saw them through with an over to spare. It’s the biggest positive for Bangladesh as the skipper has found his flow just in time for the final. However, Bangladesh will no doubt be demanding more from their established batsmen - Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das. Batting duo needs to be at their best in the big game and score big. Pacer Mohammad Saifuddin has been remarkable form and he will be looking to stop Mohammed Nabi, the in-from Afghanistan player. Shakib Al Hasan led side will be hoping for another strong performance as they have had some tight tussle versus Afghanistan in the past.
After the two early consecutive wins in the series, Afghanistan lost the momentum as they lost the third and fourth game of the tri-series against the Zimbabwe and Bangladesh respectively. The visitor's side will be buoyed by the recent records against Bangladesh as they got 80 plus percent of T-20 win record versus Bangladesh. The biggest concern for the Afghan team is the availability of skipper Rashid Khan for the finals as he suffered a hamstring injury in last game. He is currently ICC top-ranked T-20 bowler and his absence can have a major influence on how things pan out in Mirpur. In the last couple of games, the batting unit failed to score runs except for key batsmen – Mohammed Nabi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz who need to carry on their good form. Afghans side will be hoping to put the solid performance to win the T-20 series.

Usually, Bangladesh has been a very good ODI side however they haven’t been up to the mark in T-20 in the last couple of year. In the ongoing series as well, their experienced player got very little success. On the other hand, Afghanistan looks very strong and balanced team in T-20 compared to Bangladesh. Also, all the statistics are in favor of the Afghans.
