The 9th game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at Kennington Oval, London is expected to be a competitive one. Both Bangladesh and New Zealand have won their respective opening games. While Bangladesh defeated the South Africans in what has been the most competitive game so far in the tournament New Zealand won a one-sided encounter against Sri Lanka to boost their confidence levels.
In the recent games, New Zealand has dominated Bangladesh registering eight wins in their last ten games. The Bangladeshis have struggled against New Zealand’s bowling and it would be interesting to see how they fair in the next game. It would require a spirited effort on part of Bangladesh to register their second consecutive win of the tournament.

Mashrafe Mortaza’s side cannot be termed as underdogs anymore. If there were any doubts they have settled it with their brilliant performance against South Africa. They humbled the South African bowling and then never allowed the opponents to dominate in the game. As they take on a strong New Zealand side the skipper would want his boys to carry on with the same form as they showed in the last game.
Tamim Iqbal missed out in the last game but there were good contributions from Soumya Sarkar, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim in the middle. Mohammad Mithun and Mahmudullah played handy knocks towards the end to put up a sizeable total on the board for the side. These guys will look to repeat the same performance in the next game against a good bowling attack that New Zealand has.
In the bowling department, Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman did well but it was their spinners Mehidy Hasan and Shakib that put breaks on South Africa's scoring rate. Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza looked out of form with the ball and he would look to do well in the next game along with Mosaddek Hossain against the strong batting line-up that Kiwis have.

Kane Williamson’s side began their tournament in perfect style against the Sri Lankans and decimated their opponents in a 10-wicket win. They have come to the tournament as one of the favorite sides and they lived up to that reputation in their last game. Williamson would know that the Bangladeshis are going to be a tough opponent and his side would look to do well in the game.
Martin Guptill and Colin Munro played brilliantly in the last game to seal a 10 wicket win for the side. Never did the two players look in trouble during the game. They have a very strong batting line-up with Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Tom Latham and James Neesham. All these players have the ability of hitting the ball and they would fancy putting up a strong show in the next game.
It was a good show with the ball by the Kiwi bowlers in the last game with Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry and Trent Boult bowling great spells to never let Sri Lanka off the hook. The performance of Ferguson would have energized the side as he had been leaking runs in the recent games. With Mitchell Santner bowling miserly spells they would count their chances in the next game.
Ross Taylor, Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson (c), Colin de Grandhomme, Colin Munro, Trent Boult, Tom Latham (wk), James Neesham, Matt Henry, Mitchell Santner, Lockie Ferguson
The weather in London on June 05 is expected to be cloudy which will make the ball do a bit. But the pitch at this ground has been a belter so far allowing the batsmen to open their arms at will. The ball is coming on to the bat nicely and the side batting first has to make a score in excess of 300 to win here.
Venue
Kennington Oval, London is a good track to bat and the shorter boundaries along the square make it easy to score boundaries. The bowlers have to keep the ball in the right areas to trouble the batsmen but overall it remains a venue that has offered an advantage to the batsmen in the recent games.
The two games that have so far been played at the Kennington Oval have gone in favor of the side batting first. The ball tends to turn in the second innings giving the side bowling second some advantage. We expect the side winning the toss to bat first and put up a big score on the board.
It is a game between two teams that have started their World Cup campaign in style. For New Zealand, they couldn’t have asked for a better start given their performance against Sri Lanka in their first game. Bangladesh did well in all departments to defeat South Africa in their opening game. It is a difficult pick between the two sides but New Zealand given their better bowling strength in these conditions shall start as favorites in the next game.
