Inexperienced West Indies eye historic series win against Bangladesh

Host Bangladesh will be desperate to level the two-match series when they take on West Indies in the second and final game to be played at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Thursday.

Interim captain Kraigg Brathwaite will be hoping that the side can maintain their focus and deliver another excellent performance in this final Test.
In the first innings, West Indies managed to post a decent score of 268 runs, courtesy half-centuries from Kraigg Brathwaite and Jermaine Blackwood. Wicket-keeper Joshua De Silva and Kyle Mayers chipped in with scores of 42 and 40 respectively.

Chasing 395 runs for victory, opening pair of Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell got the side off to steady start. The opening duo perished in the quick succession to see West Indies lose two wickets with 48 runs on the board.
With West Indies in deep trouble at 59 for 3 in the chase, Debutants Kyle Mayers and Nkrumah Bonner led the fightback for the side. The duo produced a mammoth 216 runs for the fourth-wicket to see West Indies stay well in the hunt to win the game.
For West Indies, Kyle Mayers was the standout player with the bat. Left-hander stitched crucial partnerships with Nkrumah Bonner and Joshua De Silva to steer West Indies to a historic win in the first Test.
Kyle Mayers became the sixth batsman to score a double hundred on his debut in Test cricket. He also became second West Indies player to achieve the feat after Sir Lawrence Rowe, who reached the landmark in 1972.
Mayers produced unbeaten 210 runs off 310 balls with the help of twenty boundaries and seven sixes. He was well supported by the likes of Nkrumah Bonner, who chipped in with a solid 86 runs off 245 balls with the help of ten boundaries and one six.
Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican and off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall bowled well in the first Test and claimed 12 wickets between them.
