Bangladesh will defeat Zimbabwe!

Bangladesh took less than 4 days to win the Test by an innings and 106 runs. It was Bangladesh’s just second Test win in which Shakib Al Hasan was not present in the playing XI after his debut in 2007 Craig Ervine, the standby skipper became the third Zimbabwe player to hit a century on captaincy debut. The last time two sides met in an ODI series was in October 2018, when Zimbabwe had visited to play 3 ODI matches against Bangladesh. The series result was in favour of the hosts 3-0 at that time.
Zimbabwe must be looking to turn the table this time, but with the loss in the Test match, it does not look probable. While their batsmen need to be more supportive to Ervine and Williams, their bowlers, in particular, need to exhibit more discipline.

Bangladesh enters the ODI-series with shoulders high as the only-Test match series played between the two sides went in favour of the host thanks to double-ton from Mushfiqur Rahim. The Test win in Dhaka against Zimbabwe ended their six-match losing streak.
The win would play a vital role for the hosts after their 0-3 ODI series loss against Sri Lanka last year. Bangladesh’s last ODI series win was in the Tri-Series against Ireland and West Indies in May 2019. Rahim was also awarded the player of the match. Like the last ODI series played between the two sides, Bangladesh must be looking to bag another clean sweep this time as well.
Mushfiqur Rahim is the top scorer for Bangladesh (445 runs in the last 9 innings, average 63.57) followed by Tamim Iqbal (216 runs in the last 9 games). Mustafizur Rahman leads the bowling attack with 21 wickets in the last 8 matches while Mohammad Saifuddin has taken 9 wickets in the last 5 matches.
Key Player: Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan
Mehidy Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mahmudullah, Liton Das, Nazmul Hossain, Taijul Islam, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mohammad Mithun, Tamim Iqbal
Wesley Madhevere has received his maiden chance for the Zimbabwe ODI team to play in the limited-overs series. Sean Williams returned to the squad along with Richmond Mutumbami and Tinashe Kamunhukamwe. Williams had missed the Test because of the birth of his daughter, while Chamu Chibhabha will lead the side. Ervine’s batting (107 runs in the first innings, 43 runs in the second innings) in the Test was noteworthy as the team look up to him and Williams to put sufficient runs on the boards as they face Bangladesh against whom they failed to win a single game on previous five occasions, while their bowlers need to do a better job in the white-ball format.
Sean Williams is the top run-scorer for Zimbabwe (451 runs in the last 10 games, average 64.42) followed by Craig Ervine (395 runs in the last 9 games). Sean Williams also leads the bowling department with 11 wickets in 10 games while Donald Tiripano has taken 8 wickets in the last 8 matches.

Chamu Chibhabha, TS Kamunhukamwe, Sikandar Raza, Richmond Mutumbami, Regis Chakabva, Brendan Taylor, Wesley Madhevere, Donald Tiripano, Chris Mpofu, CT Mutombodzi, Carl Mumba
