Host nation Bangladesh will take on Zimbabwe in the first T-20 game of two-match T20 series at Dhaka on Monday. Before the T20, Bangladesh has defeated Zimbabwe clinically in Test and ODI series and clean-swept both the series. They are coming into this back on the back of amazing performance in ODI where they also recorded their biggest ODI partnership as well as the highest individual ODI score by Bangladeshi batsmen. The side is also strengthened further by the returned of their prime batsman M Rahim and bowler Mohammad Saifuddin into the T20 squad. The home side would be aiming to carry on the good form and take the early lead in the series.
On the other hand, the Zimbabwe team had failed miserably on this tour as they lost both ODI and test series against the host side. Besides, Zimbabwe doesn’t hold the best of T20 records against Bangladesh as they won just 4 out of their 11 T20 against the host side. However, Zimbabwe won in their last T20 international outings in the tri-series involving potentially weaker Singapore and Nepal. Also, though Zimbabwe lost the ODI series they have shown great intent and fought well in the last series. They have good batsman and all-rounders in their ranks and there won't be any surprise if Zimbabwe came out on top in T20 series.

With the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in their sights, Bangladesh looks to fine-tune their squad and identify the best possible combination. The batting duo of Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das is likely to open the batting after the fabulous ODI series, where both the batsmen registered two centuries and also recorded the highest ODI partnership for Bangladesh and individual highest ODI score. Liton Das scored 311 runs whereas Tamim Iqbal smashed 310 runs in the three-match ODI series. The batting duo is in sublime form and will be hoping for good performance in T20.
At three, Afif Hossain is likely to get the nod over Mohammad Naim. At number four, Mushfiqur Rahim the most experienced Bangladeshi player is likely to bat. He is the pivotal player in Bangladesh batting line-up and would look to anchor the inning. In the middle order, Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah will handle the batting responsibilities. Both are the very experienced T20 player and possesses great power-hitting ability. Mahmudullah is Bangladesh leading run-scorer in T20 in recent times; scored 210 runs from last 9 innings at an average of 30.
The bowling department will be lead by Mustafizur Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin. A lot would depend on this bowling duo to deliver initial breakthroughs with the new ball. Mustafizur Rahman has got great variety in his bowling and that is very vital in T-20 games. Shafiul Islam was the standout bowler for Bangladesh in their last T20I series against Pakistan. The Bangladesh pacer picked three wickets in two games against a formidable Pakistan side. Soumya Sarkar and Mahedi Hasan will be the other bowlers in the side.

Zimbabwe teams have struggled in recent times in international cricket as they failed to consistently deliver a strong performance in all format of the game. It’s a great opportunity for the Visitors to seek resurgences from their earlier failures in the ongoing Bangladesh Tour.
In batting a lot would depend on veteran Craig Ervine and Sean Williams. Craig Ervine has been the standout player for Zimbabwe in the recent times, he scored 232 runs from last six T20 games at an average of 46.40. Whereas Sean Williams has been the Zimbabwe best player with both bat and ball; he scored 258 runs and claimed 12 wickets from last 12 T20 games. Notably, he is currently an ICC T20 second-best all-rounder. His good form will be very crucial for Zimbabwe to perform well in the series. Sikander Raja will be another great all-rounder from Zimbabwe. He would be aiming for good performance with both bat and balls.
On the bowling front, Chris Mpofu will lead the bowling attack. He picked 11 wickets from the last 6 games. Bowling duo needs to be very disciplined against the batting heavy Bangladesh team. Carl Mumba and Donald Tiripano will be the other front-line bowler in Zimbabwe along with Sean Williams.
