Following a comprehensive victory over Melbourne Renegades, the Travis Head-led Adelaide Strikers would now lock horns with an equally competitive Brisbane Heat in an attempt to forge ahead with the winning momentum. Currently placed at the 3rd spot with 4 wins in 8 matches, the Strikers look rejuvenated with the victory in the recent encounter and would be battling out versus Chris Lynn-captained Brisbane Heat in their first faceoff of the season.
Brisbane Heat, on the other hand, would be coming into the contest on the back of a defeat versus Perth Scorchers. Tom Banton (55) and Joe Burns (37) were the top performers, in spite of them losing out the bout by a margin of 34-runs. However, the fact that they have won three out of the last four matches gives a hint that they have figured out the winning tactics which could get them a seat in the knockouts.

Chris Lynn (265 runs in 8 innings) and Tom Banton (223 runs in 9 innings) have had a dream run in the concurrent edition of BBL. Banton was in a good nick in the previous outing against Scorchers wherein he scored 32-ball 55 comprising 7-fours and 2-sixes and could be vouched to come up with a berserk display. Matt Renshaw (166 runs in 8 innings) and Ben Cutting (138 runs in 8 innings) have been phenomenal whilst batting in the middle and would be backed to come up with impressive numbers.
Bowling wise, pacer Ben Laughlin (10 wickets in 8 innings) has been raking wickets in the powerplays and along with James Pattinson would look to strike early in the contest. Afghani spinner Zahir Khan (8 wickets in 6 innings) has been effective in the middle overs and with the conditions at the Gabba suiting the spinners, one can expect the left-arm chinaman to grab a wicket or two for sure.
Ben Cutting, AB de Villiers, James Pattinson, Matt Renshaw, Chris Lynn, Joe Burns , Josh Lalor, Max Bryant, Jimmy Peirson, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mitchell Swepson

Jake Weatherald (293 runs in 8 innings) and Jonathan Wells (292 runs in 8 innings) are enjoying a terrific run with the bat and would be anticipating to go berserk from the very moment. Wells scored a half-century in the previous outing and would wish to continue his stellar run with the bat in the coming games.
Matthew Short with his 28-ball 41 played a crucial role in the match against Renegades and along with skipper Travis Head will be banked to score the chunk of runs in the slog overs. Rashid Khan (14 wickets in 8 innings) is currently topping the bowling charts for the Strikers and has scored a handy amount of runs with explosive cameos off late. Peter Siddle (3/14) bagged match-winning figures in the match against Renegades and with a fellow pacer, Wes Agar would look to reap benefits in the death overs.

It will be a bright and sunny day at the Gabba with the temperature in the low 30s. The dry conditions could offer assitance to the spinners while the pacers would look to capitalize on the pace and bounce offered.
High scoring contest awaits both the teams with the average 1st innings scoreline being 160. With the ball coming onto the bat evenly, the batters would find it easier to get their textbook shots to display.
There will be clear skies throughout ensuring the excellent conditions for the toss-winning team to face the ball in the latter stages of the contest. Also, the majority of the matches played at this venue have been won by the team batting second, so it shouldn't come as a surprise if a similar fate is expected at the Gabba.
Both Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat look quality sides however, the Strikers seem to be balanced in terms of batting and bowling instead of relying on the potency of few players which is the case with the Heat.
Not to forget, Strikers have won each time whilst competing against the Heat at the Gabba, making them the favorites for the game at Brisbane.
