We are in the final lap of the league stage in the Big Bash League and the next game between the Brisbane Heat and the Sydney Sixers at the Gabba would be a very important one for the hosts - Heat. They come into this game after having thrown away the last one. A win will keep their hopes alive for a place in the playoffs while a loss can almost pull curtains on that dream.
Sydney Sixers, on the other hand, ended their losing spree with a win in the last game. In the earlier game between the two sides, Brisbane Heat had registered an impressive win against the Sixers. They will look to take that confidence into the next game and aim to win it. The Sixers haven’t been in the best of form in the last few games after a good start and they will be looking to book a spot in the playoffs with a win. Given the context, this game is expected to be an exciting one for the crowds.

Chris Lynn’s side will be under tremendous pressure in this game and have to win in order to progress further in the season. They threw away the last game against Melbourne Renegades after looking all set for a win due to a batting collapse. Lynn would want his side to recover from that loss and focus on playing positive cricket in the upcoming match.
The new opening pair of Chris Lynn and Sam Heazlett did well in the last game and with the kind of form Lynn is in at the moment the side would be confident. AB de Villiers, Matt Renshaw and Joe Burns have done well in earlier games and having Ben Cutting and Jimmy Peirson in the finishers’ role makes them a very good batting side.
Josh Lalor and James Pattinson have to provide the side with early wickets. Both these bowlers have bowled with good economy rates. Mujeeb ur Rahman’s form this season is a big plus for the team and all that they would need is a good performance from Ben Laughlin and Ben Cutting going into this all-important encounter.

It was a much-needed win for Moises Henriques’ side in the last game against the Melbourne Stars after poor form in the recent games. The won it by 21 runs under the DLS method and Henriques would want to carry that confidence in the next game having defeated the best side in the season so far.
Josh Philippe and Daniel Hughes are doing well at the top this season. Steven Smith coming into the draw makes their batting look very strong. James Vince has played a few good knocks and shall look to continue with his form. In Moises Henriques and Tom Curran, the side has got good finishers and they will look to continue the way they have played so far in the season.
It is their bowling attack that is giving the side a lot of pain. Jackson Bird needs to do well with the new ball and Nathan Lyon after his string of poor performances will look forward to picking wickets. The side will also need a good show with the ball from the likes of Ben Dwarshuis, Curran and Steve O’Keefe.

There is a prediction for rain and thunderstorms at Brisbane on January 23. The batting conditions would be extremely difficult as the ball is expected to move around during the game. The side batting first would eye a score of 160 runs on this surface as this will immediately put pressure on the opponents given the conditions.
The Gabba, Brisbane has been a good T20 venue and over the years we have seen several high scoring games. The smaller size of the venue allows the batsmen to hit the ball in the air, unlike the bigger Australian grounds. Fast bowlers have always enjoyed bowling on this surface. There isn’t much in this surface for the spinners and they have to focus on containing opponents

There are chances of heavy rains during the game and there would be a heavy cloud over. In this scenario, the side batting second would have an advantage. We expect the captain winning the toss to invite the opposition to bat first.
Brisbane Heat has their last chance of keeping hopes alive for a place in the playoff stage of the tournament and there would be pressure on the players to perform in front of their home crowd. While the Sydney Sixers are coming into this game with a win they haven’t looked in their best form in last few games. With a stronger batting line-up and advantage of playing at home, Brisbane Heat would start as favorites in this game.
