T&Cs apply, 18+
The match number 12 in KPL is between the Bellary Tuskers and the Bengaluru Blasters. The two teams square off for their fourth league game in this 2019 edition.
Bellary Tuskers opted to bowl in their previous game against Bijapur bulls. Prasidh Krishna continued his impressive run with wickets in the powerplay, removing the opener for a duck. As the partnership grew for the bulls Prasidh returned to remove the well-set Bhatkal for 62. His combination with Krishnappa Gowtham is the biggest positive for them this season as they not only stem the flow of runs, they also pick key wickets. Gowtham ended with figures of 3/33. Having restricted the opposition to 162 the openers, Karthik and Abhishek Reddy put on a 100 partnership in just 11 overs for the first wicket. With Karthik being the more aggressive of the openers with a strike rate of 158.33, Reddy hit with winning runs with the assured support of Padikkal. Having asked to bat by the Lions the Blasters started briskly with 63 coming in just 7 overs. The wicket Keeper Batsman Sharath was the chief architect as he raced to 42 from just 23 balls.
After losing their captain Jonathan cheaply to 3 runs, Nikin Jose and Bharath managed to build a 35-run partnership before rain interrupted another 7.00 PM match. This time though surprisingly rain stopped, and Lions were asked to chase 106 in 12 overs by VJD method. Lions were in a hurry as they rocketed to 50 runs in just 4 overs. Blasters spinners Dodd Amani and Devaraj pulled things back by picking 3 wickets in quick succession. The pressure built up by the spinners was released by Rohan Raju as he smashed for 24 runs by the opposition captain Abhimanyu Mithun. There was no coming back for the Blasters from that position as they lost the match 11 balls to spare.

The Tuskers top order looked solid in their batting which helped them finish their previous game against Bulls. Abhishek Reddy’s 62 off 54 balls and Karthik’s 57 off 36 balls took the game completely away from the opposition. Captain Gautam need to get into a rhythm as he is the only player in short of runs. Their bowling is looking sharp with KKR young talent Prasidh Krishna and Rajasthan royal’s star Krishnappa Gowtham. Both combined have 11 wickets so far in the tournament and mind you they are not bowling too many freebies
Key Players:
Devdutt Padikkal: The way this leftie batted grabbed everyone’s attention and he is going to pile up the runs in this 2019 edition and be one of those top run-getters. He is already 3rd in the list with an aggregate of 153 from 3 games.
Krishnappa Gowtham: This man is high on confidence after the opening game backed up by his fruitful performance in the Caribbean where he was the second-highest wicket-taker with 12 victims in the test series and highest wicket so far in the tournament with 6 scalps. But it is his late hitting abilities that will do his team a world of good.
Abhishek Reddy, Karthik CA, Devdutt Padikkal, Gautam CM (C&Wk), Krishnappa Gowtham, Zeeshan Ali Sayeed, Abrar Kazi, Bhavesh Gulecha, Suraj Reddy, Prasidh Krishna, Vishnu Priyan
They have an impressive spin line up as the left-arm spinner Doddamani finished with figures of 2/20 in 3 overs and Bharath Devraj 1/10 from 2 overs. The fast bowling department looks weak as V Koushik continue to struggle with an economy rate of around 14 and 8 in his last two games. They have not played the full quota of 40 overs not even once in this tournament. Their hitting ability is never put to test in this tournament so far and this 3.00PM match will completely test their skills. If they can come on top against the table toppers, their confidence will be sky-rocketing.
Key Players:
Sharath BR: In the limited batting test provided to Blasters Sharath never failed with scores of 22 and 42 in quick time. He will look to use this opportunity to play match-winning innings.
Anand Doddamani: He has figures of 1/15 and 2/20 in the 2 matches played so far. He bowls in the powerplay with control and wicket-taking skills. He is their main trump card against the batting heavy Tuskers
Sharath BR (Wk), Roshan Kadam, Jonathan (C), Nikin Jose, KN Bharath, Rohan Raju, Manoj Bhandage, Dhuri, V Koushik, Anand Doddamani, Bharath Devaraj
Bangalore weather has stayed away from most of the matches starting at 3.00 PM. All the evening matches have been affected by rain but, the full quota of 40 overs got bowled in all the 3.00 PM matches. Look out for a match with no overs being sacrificed to rain gods.
The team winning the toss will look to bat first. The record so far in this tournament is 3-2 in favor of the teams batting first. Tuskers have managed to chase it as well as defend it in the 3.00PM start.
Task cut out for the Blasters spinners to stop the Tuskers top order. It will be an interesting battle between Doddamani and Padikkal. If the spinners fail it will be hard stopping the Tuskers. Tuskers never looked in trouble against any opposition and if the Prasidh and Gowtham combo can put up another show, it will be a cake-walk. We expect Bellary Tuskers to win the match!
