The Bellary Tuskers who had a disappointing campaign last season with just a solitary win will be looking to put up a much-improved performance this time. They retained experienced wicketkeeper CM Gautam and exciting batsmen Devdutt Paddikkal before the auction. They made several smart purchases during the auction like Prasidh Krishna, Abrar Kazi, Abhishek Reddy and now look like a team well balanced to challenge for the title. They will be hoping that star allrounder Krishnappa Gowtham gets to play at least a couple of games for them.
Prasidh Krishna: The Bellary Tuskers bid heavily to obtain the services of the lanky seamer and will look up to him to lead the attack. He was their highest paid purchase and so there will be huge pressure on the KKR frontline seamer. Krishna had a quiet time compared to his fellow fast bowlers during Karnataka’s Syed Musthaq Ali trophy victory and will be eager to prove that he is one of the top bowlers in the state.
Devdutt Paddikkal: The young exciting left-hand batsmen were retained by the Tuskers from last season and he will be looking to repay their faith after a middling tournament last year. The youngster who was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore setup during the IPL will look to make use of all the things he would have picked up while interacting with international players.

The Belagavi Panthers finished 5th last season and thereby missing out on a semifinal spot and will be looking to better their showing. They retained the services of Shubhang Hegde and Avinash D before the auction and since added a number of exciting batsmen in the auction. There is a healthy mix of experienced and young batsmen in the lineup and will be looking to pile high scores. The bowling is slightly on the inexperienced side and will look to complement the strong batting lineup.
Ravikumar Samarth – The opening batsmen who missed last year’s tournament will be looking to make up for it in this year’s tournament. He will be expected to take the majority of the batting unit responsibility and guide the other young and existing batsmen alongside him. He will be looking to impress the scouts and selectors present for a place in India A squad or an IPL squad.
Mir Kaunain Abbas – Big things will be expected from these explosive middle-order batsmen who had a below-par tournament last year. He has all the shots in the book and on his day, dominate the bowling attack and win a game for his team on his own.

The pitch in Bengaluru is usually a batting friendly wicket with small boundaries and lots of runs. However because it’s the first match of the tournament and the possibility of a fresh wicket, run making can be a bit of a hard task. The bowlers might fancy their chances in the early part of the tournament when they are still getting the assistance from the pitch. The weather in Bangalore has been cloudy with occasional rains and that looks like it is going to continue that way. There are good chances that the games might get affected due to intermittent rains.
The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore is usually a batter’s paradise with flat decks and short boundaries. However with the city getting regular rains and the fresh pitch at the start of the tournament might make the contest a lot more even and bring the bowlers in the game. The ground staff are quite efficient in getting the game started after a rain interruption, so not many overs should be lost.
The captain winning the toss will like to chase on an unknown fresh pitch. The pitch might initially assist the seamers and the captain winning the toss will like to make the most of it. Also because there is a constant threat of rain and the DLS method is always a chance, the team chasing a target will be having an advantage.
Both the Bellary Tuskers and the Belagavi Panthers will be looking to put up an improved performance in this year’s tournament and will look to kick off the tournament on a winning note. Both teams have strong batting units and should be an interesting contest. The contest between Ravikumar Samarth and Prasidh Krishna would likely be only of the major battles of the game and might decide which way the game heads. However, the experience and the stronger bowling unit makes the Bellary Tuskers favorites against the Belagavi Panthers in the opening game of the tournament for both teams.
