T&Cs apply, 18+
The Bengaluru Blasters finally got a win in this year’s tournament after a succession of games affected by rain. The finalist from last year just about scraped through in their last game by 1 run by VJD method in another rain-affected game against the Bellary Tuskers.
The Belagavi Panthers have not won a game and despite a brilliant Manish Pandey century in the last game, were unable to defend a huge score and lost to the Hubli Tigers by 5 wickets.
Both teams will look to win this game in order to have a chance qualifying for the next stage of the tournament. The Belagavi Panthers especially are in a dire need of a win to ensure they are not eliminated this early in the tournament.

The Belagavi Panthers at halfway stage in their game against the Hubli Tigers looked like they were in a great position to win the game after Manish Pandey scored a brilliant century to guide his team to a formidable total. However, the bowlers were unable to defend that total and allowed Hubli Tigers to get away and end up with their second loss of the tournament. They are now in a situation where they will have to win all their games to keep alive their hopes of a place in the next stage.
Manish Pandey: The experienced campaigner who’s had a golden run with the India A team and was away for national duty against the West Indies is back and adds further strength to the Belagavi batting. He announced his arrival in the tournament with a scintillating century when his team was in trouble and ensured they ended up with a formidable total. He will be looking to continue his form and take the bulk of the batting responsibilities as well as help guide the younger players in the team.
Shubang Hegde: The young allrounder who has played for the India U19 team was retained by the Panthers before this year’s auctions. He is expected to lead the spin attack on pitches which will assist him. He can also be useful with the bat and can provide quick runs at the end of the innings. The Panthers have been poor in the bowling and will look up for him for improved performance.

The Bengaluru Blasters were lucky to end up with a win against the Bellary Tuskers as they had gotten out cheaply and managed to pick up early wickets and end up victorious by the VJD method. The bowling has been doing consistently well but they have not been helped by an inconsistent batting line up and will be hoping they put up a good score on the board.
Rohan Kadam: The stylish left-hander who looked in good touch in his brief stint at the crease in the tournament and will look to carry on with his good touch and provide great starts at the top of the order. The Blasters will be looking up to him to provide solidity against the strong Lions new ball bowling attack. He had a brilliant Syed Musthaq Ali trophy in Karnataka’s winning campaign and will look to keep up the good work.
Anand Doddamani: The slow left-arm orthodox bowler who had an excellent campaign in last year’s tournament for the Blasters was bought back by the Blasters in the auction for a good amount. The left-arm spinner was consistently economical and picked up important wickets all through the last year’s tournament and will be looking to do the same this time around. He has started off the tournament on a good note with his economical spell choking the opposition batting line up in their last match and will look to continue in a similar vein.

The pitches lately have been brilliant for batting even though there have been consistent rains lashing the city. We have already seen the first century of the tournament and a total of 180 chased and teams will be hoping the good conditions for batting continue. The bowlers have had their fair share of success and so it’s so far been a good contest between bat and ball. The weather continues to be an area of concern with matches expected to be interrupted or abandoned by rain in the next week of the tournament.
The M.Chinnaswamy stadium is one of the best grounds in India in terms of the drainage and ground staff and they have done a great job in ensuring the games keep going in spite of heavy overnight rains. The venue which is usually a batting beauty has changed a little because of the weather and the bowlers have an equal part to play in the games.
While the pitch seemed to slow down in the second part of the innings, captains winning the toss will still be looking to chase as there still does not seem to be a consensus on what a good score is. The consistent threat of rain means that teams will prefer to chase and take advantage of any changes due to rain.
Both teams in need of a victory face each other to improve their chances of qualifying to the next stage of the tournament. The Blasters have one win in the tournament so far while the Panthers have not had a single victory so far. Both teams have exciting batting lineups capable of scoring big runs but the Bengaluru Blasters bowling attack gives them a small edge in this contest.
We predict Bengaluru Blasters to win this game!
