Barbados Tridents started the tournament on a winning note by defeating St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, but it was never an easy game for them. While Kyle Mayers (37 runs in 20 balls) and Jason Holder (38 runs of 22 balls) had anchored the innings, at the end they could manage just 153 runs on the board. The Patriots were in charge till the halfway through their innings. However, Santner dislodged the dangerous Mitchell Dunk in the 13th over, and the Tridents caught a break when the ball was changed in the 15th over, due to the dew. Johnson Charles had given a good start with 19-balls 35 that included two sixes, while Holder accumulated quick 27 runs (off 12 balls). The rain and the DLS later diluted all their efforts as Zouks had to score 47 runs in five overs. Even though Rashid Khan took 2 wickets in his two overs and Reifer grabbed one wicket, it was never going to make them win the game.
