The most awaited game of this IPL season is due on Sunday at Wankhede between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). RCB are into a winning trot with 4 matches. This is the first time in the history of the IPL when RCB have won all four games at the start of the season. On the other hand, Chennai have won the last three games after losing their first game against Delhi Capitals. CSK have turned the tables from the last season by the inclusion of Suresh Raina and Moeen Ali in the team.
It looks like the trophy is finally coming home for RCB. They have beaten Mumbai Indians, SunRisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Rajasthan Royals so far. Their dominance in the last match was so high that they ended up winning the game without losing a wicket. The batting and the bowling combination has worked well for RCB. Their key players including skipper Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers are fetching lots of runs for the team. While the bowling unit has been doing some fantastic death over bowling to stop the opponents from getting runs.
CSK have found their mojo after losing their first game of this season. They won comfortably against Punjab Kings and then against Rajasthan Royals. In the fourth game, CSK survived a scare from KKR’s middle-order batting to win the game by 18 runs. Both CSK openers have provided a good start to their innings and the batting depth till the end has provided a crucial strategic upper hand over the opposition. The 19th game of the IPL will be an epic battle between the most successful teams of this season. A win can strengthen RCB’s position at the top of the points table. But a CSK win can help them topple RCB from the top position.

With the last game’s conclusion, CSK are in a sorted space as both their openers are back in the form. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 64 runs in 42 balls with the help of 6 fours and 4 sixes. While Faf du Plessis missed his hundred by just five runs. He scored unbeaten 95 runs in 60 balls. English all-rounder Moeen Ali has fitted in the third position given by CSK management. CSK’s middle order will consist of Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. The flexibility in the middle order is the key to CSK's success so far. They have not fixed the positions of any batsman in the middle order, but everyone has played their part as per the situation.
CSK skipper will be a bit concerned with the performance of the bowling unit in the death overs. After sending KKR’s half the team back to the pavilion in the first five overs, CSK’s bowling department went for 171 runs in 15 overs. Lungi Ngidi played his first game of the season as CSK decided to rest Dwayne Bravo. It will be difficult for CSK to go back to Bravo as Ngidi was the most economical bowler with 3 wickets. CSK might play their most expensive uncapped player Krishnappa Gowtham in place of Ambati Rayudu to get an extra bowling option.

RCB are yet to taste a defeat this season. Still, the skipper is making changes in every game they have played so far. As far as the opening is concerned, it will be unchanged. In the last game against RR, RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal scored 52 balls 101 runs with 11 fours and 6 sixes. The skipper Kohli gave him an accompaniment with his unbeaten 72 runs from 47 balls. Therefore, the opening slot is sorted for RCB against CSK. The third position is yet to find a worthy batsman for RCB. They have tried Rajat Patidar, Shabaz Ahmed for this position. They might go with Glenn Maxwell this time to promote their most explosive batsman AB de Villiers to 4th position. The middle order is yet to get tested for RCB. they have Washington Sundar, Kyle Jamieson and either Kane Richardson or Daniel Christian to go for.
The RCB bowling department will be headed by the Orange Cap holder Harshal Patel. His trade from DC has been worked in favour of RCB so far especially in the death overs. Mohammed Siraj has been outstanding for RCB this season. He has bowled 53 dot balls out of 90 deliveries. The opening bowler and death over bowler combo has been fixed by RCB management with the performances in the first four games. But RCB’s most successful bowler is yet struggling to perform. RCB Spinner and last season’s leading wicket-taker Yuzvendra Chahal has not performed up to his potential. Therefore the game against RCB will be a test of his abilities.

The weather looks good for the match. It will be partially Cloudy and Hazy. There is no chance of rain. The temperature will vary between 32°C to 29°C. The wind will be from the west with a speed of 16-22 kph. The pitch provides help to the swing bowlers because of the wind coming from the Arabian Sea. Though the seamers enjoy the help, the pitch starts favouring batsmen in the later stages of the game.
The venue for this match is Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Built in 1974, the stadium has a capacity of 33000.
A total of 8 IPL matches have been played so far at Wankhede. 5 of them have been won by the team batting second. In the remaining 3 matches, the team defending the target almost survived a scare. Therefore the team winning the toss should field first.
RCB is playing on another planet this season. They have never dominated the first games of any IPL season, While CSK are back in their shoes after a forgetful season last year. Therefore the game between both these teams will be nail-biting. CSK has all the experience to beat RCB. But it's the skipper of the RCB and his arsenal which is ready for all kinds of battles. RCB's confident start to this season makes them the favourites to win this match.
We predict that the Royal Challengers Bangalore will defeat the Chennai Super Kings.
