There have been some great games in the Mzansi Super League last week and as we go into the 18th game of the season hosts Cape Town Blitz has a big challenge on their hands. The side which was leading the points table at one point of time suddenly finds itself in a spot of bother and has to win the next game as they play against the Durban Heat.
Heat incidentally hasn’t been able to win a single game so far in the competition. Durban Heat is struggling at the moment with the form of its players. This is a must-win game for them to be in the hunt for a berth in the playoffs of the season. They had lost the last game they played against the Blitz earlier in the season and this would surely be playing in their minds. Heat will need to make a strong comeback in the next game to win it.

Quinton de Kock would want his side to recover from the back to back losses they suffered against the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants and the Paarl Rocks. They had started the season well and the skipper would want his side to get back to winning ways playing in front of their home crowd. Janneman Malan and Quinton de Kock are doing a great job at the top and they will need to continue with that in the next game.
The form of Liam Livingstone and Marques Ackerman has put the side in a bit of bother and they will need to bat well in the next game. Moeen Ali’s entry strengthens the batting for the side with Vernon Philander and Mohammad Nawaz looking in good form down the order. The side would expect a good show from its pace trio of Dale Steyn, Wahab Riaz and Philander in the next game. They haven’t bowled to their potential in the last couple of games. Moeen Ali strengthens the bowling attack along with Mohammad Nawaz and Sisanda Magala.

Dane Vilas’ side is playing a do-or-die game. They haven’t won a single game this season and will have to win this one to keep their hopes of making it to the playoffs alive. Vilas would want his batsmen to do well after the series of failures so far.
At the top of the order, Alex Hales and Wesley Marshall have to bat well. Hales who has had a muted season so far will need to deliver the goods in this game. Sarel Erwee, Vilas and David Miller will need to build partnerships in the middle order which they have failed to do so far. Ravi Bopara is in good form and has to play the finisher’s role alongside Andile Phehlukwayo.
Bowling wise the side has become over-dependent on Keshav Maharaj who is bowling well at the moment. Kyle Abbott has to make good use of the conditions in the next game. Shaun von Berg, Phehlukwayo and Malusi Siboto have to vary their line and not be predictable as they have been so far this season.
Alex Hales, Wihan Lubbe, Wesley B Marshall, Marco Jansen, RS Bopara, MP Siboto, Keshav Maharaj, KY Abbott, DJ Vilas, David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo

It would be clear skies at Cape Town on November 28 and temperatures would slightly be on the cooler side. The pitch has been a good one to bat on in the two games that have been played so far and seen big scores. The ball is coming onto the bat nicely and it is making it easy for the batsmen to play their strokes. Batting first a side would need a score in excess of 170 runs to feel comfortable on this surface.
Newlands, Cape Town is one of the best bowling surfaces in South Africa where there is pace and bounce in the surface. The batsmen have also done well at this venue given that the ball comes into the bat nicely. There isn’t much in this surface for the spinners who have to toil hard to trouble batsmen.
The wicket at Cape Town is looking a good one to bat on this season. In both the games the sides batting first have put up big totals on the board and won it. The team winning the toss in this game would definitely choose to bat first and aim at putting up a huge score on the board.
It will be an important game for both sides. Cape Town Blitz needs to get back to winning ways and would like to take advantage of playing at home. They have fared poorly in their last two games. For the Durban Heat, this is a must-win game to keep their hopes alive for the rest of the season. A loss here would end all their dreams. At this outset, the Blitz definitely look the better of the two sides and this will make them favorites to win the game!
