It’s the third consecutive home game scheduled for Durban Heat. DH are yet to play an actual game as both their matches are washed out. The side had dismal season last year as they lost 6 out of their 10 matches and won just 3 games. This season, they are expectant to improve their numbers with the presence of opener Alex Hales and all-rounder Ravi Bopara.
Cape Town Blitz climbed to the top place in the points table after defeating Jozi Stars by 57 runs at home on Thursday. It was their second win in three games they played, against the same team. They won the opening game against the defending champions by 15 runs, and the only game CTB lost was against Paarl Rocks, which was a heavy defeat with the margin 86 runs.

Thanks to bad weather, Durban Heat are yet to complete a game out of two matches that were scheduled so far, both at Durban. Their home fixture against the Paarl Rocks was abandoned 10 minutes before the toss due to wet outfield following days of heavy rain.
The first match of Durban Heat against Tshwane Spartans was also washed out without a ball bowled, and unless weather disrupts the match again, this can be their first real outing against last season’s finalists Cape Town Blitz at Durban on Sunday.
Khaya Zondo was the top run-scorer for Heat in MSL 2018, with his 216 runs in 10 innings, while Sarel Erwee smashed 125 runs in just 5 innings he played last year. Kyle Abbott (10 wickets in 10 games) was the leading wicket-taker for DH, while for left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj it will be a very good opportunity to showcase his talent.

The runners-up of MSL 2018 - Cape Town Blitz started off this season with a win over the defending champions Jozi Stars. In the very first batting innings of MSL 2019, CTB smashed 213 runs against JS thanks to opener Janneman Malan’s 99 runs off 59 balls, supported well by Liam Livingstone (10 balls 21) and George Linde (13 balls 24) down the order. Steyn’s 3 for 25 ensured the Stars are restricted under 200 despite other bowlers were going for plenty of runs.
Against Paarl, CTB was bundled out for just 84 runs in response to Paarl Rocks’ 170 runs. Nortje and Linde shared 6 wickets between them while Steyn went wicketless, conceding 35 runs. The batsmen succumbed during the run-chase, as none of them went past 15 runs, and 7 of them got out under 10 runs.
Blitz registered their second win against Jozi Stars again while playing at home. On Sunday, Durban could see evening showers followed by a thunderstorm in parts of the area. Daytime temperature will reach 24 °c while nighttime minimum temperature is expected to be around 17 °c.
The venue for this match is Kingsmead, Durban. Here, previous two games of the tournament were washed out without a ball bowled due to bad weather. South Africa's east coast has been affected by severe storms in the last couple of weeks.
The highest total at this venue in a T20I game is 218/4 by India against England. The average scores batting first and second are 148 and 134. While the highest total chased on this ground is 158. Out of 13 matches in which we got results here, one match ended in a tie, while the teams batting first and second have won six-six matches each. It is recommended to bat first after winning the toss.
Cape Town Blitz are the MSL 2018 runners-up, whereas Duran Heat ended up last. Cape Town Blitz have won 2 out of their 3 matches so far and right now they are placed at the top of the points table. On the other hand, Durban Heat are yet to play in the middle as their previous two games were abandoned without a ball bowled, but they still hold four points and reside at the fourth place. There are chances of rains again on Sunday, but if the match is played, Cape Town Blitz will have an upper hand as Durban Heat lack the match practice, and overall statistics are in favour of the visitors.
Our prediction is that Cape Town Blitz will defeat Durban Heat!
