T&Cs apply, 18+
It has been a closely contested Ashes so far, the most intensely fought one since the 2005 series. Australians surprised everyone to win the 1st Test Match riding on Steven Smith’s singlehanded show. With the second game drawn, hosts England registered an impressive win from the jaws of defeat in the last game at Headingley to level the series. This makes the upcoming Test Match at Old Trafford a keenly watched contest. If Aussies win they retain the Ashes whereas an English victory will create a chance for them to lay their hands on the urn.
The English side would go into this game beaming confidence at their incredible record at Old Trafford where they lost their last game back in 2001. Australian batting has failed miserably apart from Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne and they will need to overcome this to create their chances for the next game.

Grandiose would be the right word to define England’s victory in the last game. An unbeaten 76 run stand for the 10th wicket sealed the game in their favor. Skipper Joe Root would naturally be excited with the way his side fought back in the last game after being down in the series. He would want his side to carry on with the same momentum going into the next game and make it 2-1.
Opener Jason Roy isn’t looking in the best of form while Rory Burns has done well. The side has good batting in the middle with Joe Root and Joe Denly looking good. The summer has however belonged to Ben Stokes who is in the form of his life. The side would hope to see a better show from Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow as they have had a muted series so far.
Bowling looks incredible at the moment with Jofra Archer and Stuart Broad looking in good form and troubling the Aussie batsmen. Chris Woakes and Jack Leach haven’t had the best of form and would be looking to offer their main bowlers good support going into this game along with Ben Stokes.

Tim Paine would have been very upset with the performance of his side in the last game. They handed over a victory to the English side on a platter waiting for the last wicket to fall. The loss would have demoralized the camp and this is what he would have to work on. With the English side having a wonderful record at Old Trafford the Kiwis would have to play its best game to defeat them.
Australian batting looked in horrible form without Steven Smith in the side as Marcus Harris and David Warner failed to live up to the challenge. Smith’s return makes the batting strong for the side with Marnus Labuschagne also looking in good form. Travis Head, Matthew Wade, and Usman Khawaja will have to bring out better performances with the bat for the side to stand up against England’s hostile pace attack.
In the bowling department, Josh Hazlewood is looking in good form but he will need to get good support from Pat Cummins and James Pattinson with the new ball. Nathan Lyon hasn’t been able to live up to his reputation so far in the series and it would be a big challenge for him going into the next game.

There are expectations of slight showers at Manchester on the first three days of the game and with the cloud, cover batting would be tough. The pitch offers swing and lateral movement in such conditions and the bowlers would be looking to make the best out of the helpful pitch on Day 1 and 2 of the game.
VENUE
Old Trafford, Manchester has been a good ground for the batsmen and the bowlers. Fast bowlers do enjoy bowling in the first session while batsmen have done well in the latter two sessions with Day 2 and 3 mostly belonging to the batsmen. The pitch does offer assistance to the spinners on the last two days where they get the ball to turn sharply and also bounce.
Win Toss, Bowl first
The overcast conditions at the venue would make it difficult to bat in the opening session on Day 1 where bowlers would be able to make the best use of the conditions. The skipper winning the toss would want to utilize these conditions to advantage by inviting the opposition to bat first on this surface.
It has been a marvelous series so far where the momentum has oscillated between the two sides. Hosts England made a grand comeback to win the last test match and keep their hopes alive for the rest of the series. Australians, on the other hand, haven’t looked in best form apart from Steven Smith’s heroics. They are down on confidence at the moment after the trashing they've received in the last game. Going into the 4th Test Match the hosts would definitely start as favorites.
We expect England to beat Australia in the 4th Test of the 2019 Ashes series!
