England and India Women teams are in Australia to play the tri-series along with the hosts. The series started on 31st January 2020 and would end on 12th February 2020 with the Final at Melbourne. The tournament format of the tri-series is a double round-robin followed by the Final between the top two sides. Currently, each team has played 2 matches each and has one win under their belt. Australia and India Women teams are the top two teams currently based on the NRR. All the matches will be played at Canberra and Melbourne.
India started the series by defeating England in the first encounter but were outplayed by Australia in their second game. England Women, after the defeat against India, came back strongly to topple strong Australian team in a contest that went to the super over. In such a short series each win counts and the winner of this encounter between England and India women would come very close to making it to the final of the tri-series.

Despite being one of the top teams in T20 International cricket England Women have had a tough series so far in Australia. With the Women’s T20 World Cup approaching later in the month England Women would be itching for a comprehensive win under their belt.
In the series opener against India Women, despite Heather Knight’s 67 of just 44 deliveries, England Women failed to defend 147. Although India Women were in the game throughout the match, England will rue the dropped catch and wides in the penultimate over that had India needing just 6 runs in the final over. In the second game when the match against Australia Women seemed to be in the pocket around 17th over, they allowed Australia to come back in the game conceding 39 runs in the last 3 overs. They somehow tied the game and thanks to Ecclestone they managed to pull the match off eventually.
Daniell Wyatt and Natalie Sciver are England’s leading run-scorers while captain Heather Knight is the top run-scorer of this tri-series with 145 runs in 2 innings. Natalie Sciver is also the leading wicket-taker (4 wickets) in this series. It will be interesting to see if England Women could avenge the loss in the earlier league game against India Women.
Key Player – HC Knight, NR Sciver, DN Wyatt

India Women are the lowest-ranked international team in the current tri-series. However, they have been very good in the international T20 cricket in the recent past. Of the last 10 completed matches, they have lost just 2 matches including the one against Australia Women in this series.
In the first game of the series, India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur (42 off 34 balls), held the nerve to complete a tense finish against the current opponents - England Women. In the second match, however, India Women had to face a comprehensive defeat against the Aussies. A score of 103 was never going to be enough to topple the top-ranked Australia Women team. With the likes of Mandhana, Rodrigues, and Harmanpreet Kaur followed by Deepti Sharma in the middle order, batting seems to be India’s stronger point. However, when batting fails, it has proved difficult for India Women to defend the totals like the match against Australia Women earlier in the series.
Madhana and Kaur are in great touch. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur is the highest run-getter (70 Runs) for India in this series so far. India’s bowling would revolve around Rajeshwari Gayakwad who is India’s top wicket-taker (4 wickets) in this series. India Women would nearly seal the spot for the finals if they manage to beat England Women for the second time in the series and a lot depends on how India Women bowl in this match.

Weather in Melbourne is supposed to be nice with intervals of clouds and sunshine. The clouds may assist the seamers. The daytime temperature is supposed to go up to 27°c whereas it would be around 18°c in the night.
Junction Oval formerly known as St Kilda Cricket Club Ground has been a primary T20 venue in the BBL. Before this series, the last Women’s T20 International match that happened here was in 2013. New Zealand Women traveled to Australia for a bilateral series in which the guests won 2-1.
Junction Oval is a bit of a low scoring ground. On such grounds, it always helps to know the target score. It is evident from the fact that in the last 11 Women’s BBL matches happened at this venue, the teams batting second have won 7 of them. The team winning the toss should look to Bowl first at this venue.
This tri-series is very important for the teams playing in it considering the upcoming T20 world cup happening in the same country. A series win here would boost the confidence for the world cup. And this match between England and India Women is very crucial to determine who will get closer to the finals spot.
England Women are a strong team but India Women on their day can trump any team in international cricket. However, based on the head-to-head record and recent form England Women seem a tad bit ahead of that of the Indian counterpart.
Thus, we predict England Women to win this match against India Women.
