It is the 2nd ODI of the West Indies Women tour of England, 2019 where the two sides would lock horns at the beautiful county ground at New Road, Worcester. West Indies Women started the series on a bad note as they suffered a crushing defeat by 208 runs in the game. England Women were strong in all departments of the game as they won this one with ease.
West Indies Women’s recent record against England doesn’t signal confidence either as they have lost the last four out of the five games they have played. The side would need to put behind the loss and regroup ahead of the next game. They need to take their game to the next level to win this one.

Heather Knight would be proud with the start her side got in the three-match series. It was a great performance both with the bat and the ball for the side where they defeated West Indies Women comprehensively in the game. With the series up for grabs in the next game, Knight would want her team to continue with the same momentum and win the game.
It was a great batting display by England Women in the last game. Opener Amy Ellen Jones and skipper Knight both played well and both were unlucky to miss out on well-deserved hundreds. There were also good contributions from Tammy Beaumont and Natalie Sciver in the game. With Sarah Taylor, Danielle Wyatt and Katherine Brunt in the line-up they would look to test the bowling attack of their opponents in the next game.
England bowlers impressed in the game where Katherine Brunt bowled an incredible opening spell and picked two early wickets. She was well supported by Sophie Ecclestone and Laura Marsh who grabbed two wickets each in the last game. The presence of Anya Shrubsole and Kate Cross makes their bowling attack dominant and they would be looking forward to continuing with the same form in the next game.

Stafanie Taylor would want her side to recover from the drubbing they received at the hands of a spirited English side in the last game. They bowled without discipline and when it came to their batting they folded like a pack of cards. Loss in the next game would cost them the series and Taylor would want her girls to rise up to the challenge in the next game.
Chedean Nation was the only batter who stood between England bowlers and humiliation. Hayley Matthews and Kycia Knight the openers would need to provide the side with a good start in the game. Shemaine Campbelle, Stafanie Taylor and Kyshona Knight also need to put a price on their wicket to stand up to the formidable challenge that the English bowlers are likely to throw at them.
West Indian bowlers bowled well in patches in the last game. Hayley Matthews did well to grab her 4 wickets while Taylor bowled a tight spell. Shamilia Connell and Stacy-Ann King will need to do well with the new ball for the side to check the scoring rate of the formidable English batting line-up.

The weather is expected to be sunny and dry at Worcester on June 09 which shall make it perfect for a game of cricket. The pitch at this ground has been a good one to bat on in the last few games and we expect the ball to come on to the bat nicely. A score of around 300 runs would be a must on this track.
Venue
New Road, Worcester had traditionally been a good ground for the bowlers but over the years it has turned into a batting friendly wicket. Batters can easily hit through the line though there is some early movement in the air for the fast bowlers. Batting becomes easy on this ground once the game progresses.
It will be a good surface to bat on after the fast bowlers are through their initial overs. The ball may also spin in the latter part of the game. The skipper winning the toss might want to use the opportunity of batting first and putting up a sizable score on the board and then defending it.
If the performance in the first game is treated as a yardstick England Women team is miles ahead of their West Indian counterparts. But West Indies Women team definitely has better talent than what was seen in the first game of the series. They would need to apply themselves to compete. England has all its bases covered in terms of batting, bowling, and fielding and this would surely make them favorites to win the next game and the series along with it.
