We are done with the league stages of the Vincy Premier League, 2020. Dark View Explorers and Fort Charlotte Strikers have finished 5th and 6th on the points table and out of the contention for the semifinals. The two teams would now engage in a battle for the 5th place playoffs with the loser of this game finishing with the wooden spoon, a crown none of the sides would want to take home.
In the final round of the league games, the Strikers went down against the La Soufriere Hikers while the Dark View Explorers lost to the Salt Pond Breakers. The two sides had met twice earlier in the season and won a game each. Given that the sides are well-matched we expect this to be a close contest where both these teams are likely to throw all they have to secure a win.

It was another big loss for Gidron Pope’s side as they went down against the La Soufriere Hikers by 9 wickets in a rain-affected game. They did well with the bat to put up a respectable total on the board but their bowling was taken to the cleaners. They will need to overcome that defeat and focus on doing well in the next game.
The side will need Olanzo Bellingy and Sealroy Williams to fire with the bat at the top which they have done earlier in the season. In the middle order, they have Pope, Kirton Lavia, and Ronald Scott in good form. Selrick Caine and Chelson Stowe will need to do the big-hitting if called for in the next game.
As far as their bowling is concerned the side has failed in the last few games, both Ray Jordan and Rasheed Fredericks will need to provide the side with early breakthroughs which they have done earlier. Sealroy Williams, Chelson Stowe, and Kirton Lavia need to play the role of support bowlers well if they are to do well in this contest.
It was another game and another loss for Lindon James’ team. They lost by 20 runs in the last game against the Salt Pond Breakers where their batsmen failed to live up to the expectations. Having defeated the Strikers earlier the side will start confidently in this game and press hard to win it.
The side will need a strong start from Kody Horne and Shamon Hooper at the top. Both these players have good striking abilities and will look to put it into good use. The middle-order looks strong with James, Deron Greaves, and O’Jay Matthews. Given the kind of firepower, they have in the batting the side should do well.
Deron Greaves has done well with the ball in recent games and Sealron Williams too looks in a good rhythm. The duo will need to inflict damage on the Strikers in the next game. Skipper James along with Andrew Thomas and Shamon Hooper must bowl tighter lines for the side to win the next game.

The skies would be overcast over St Vincent on May 30 and there are predictions for showers during the game. The conditions would help the bowlers in the early overs. The pitch has been a good one to bat on as we have seen throughout the tournament and the side that bats first would feel happy with a score of around 100 runs.
Arnos Vale Sporting Complex, St. Vincent is a small venue and this makes it easy for the batsmen to hit through the line and score quickly. The ball also moves around in the early overs of the game and the spinners have taken advantage of the sharp turn and bounce on this surface.
The weather is expected to be cloudy and the ball would move a bit in the early overs of the game. In the case of rains, the side chasing the score would have an advantage. In such a scenario the skipper winning the toss should have little hesitation in bowling first on this surface.
It will be a tough battle between the two sides as they match well in terms of batting and bowling resources. The Fort Charlotte Strikers have had a miserable tournament and have registered only one win which came against the Dark View Explorers. What is hurting them is their inability to win the crunch moments in the game. The Dark View Explorers on the other hand fared poorly after the good start. However, they have a slightly stronger line-up and this will make them favorites in this game.
