Guyana Amazon Warriors won 5 games they played so far. After Pooran's fantastic knock against STKNP and Naveen-ul-Haq's brilliant spell against BT, GAW are moving ahead to finish the league stage on a good note before playing in the semis. On the other hand, Barbados Tridents just have 2 games in hand to play and their spot in semis also depends on other team's performance. But they are excited ahead of their next game at Brian Lara Stadium, where they will meet GAW for the 2nd time in this season.
After a huge struggle against GAW in their previous match, Tridents are looking forward to end on a happy note in this season. For GAW, S. Hetmyer and N. Pooran have already got some runs on board and alongside, K. Paul and Navin have given remarkable spells with the ball. BT doesn’t have many star players, still, M. Santner, Rashid khan with the ball, and J. Charles with the bat are the reasons.

Early in the tournament, N. Pooran's maiden T20 ton against STKNP and some fine innings from last year’s leading run-scorer BA king along with S. Hetmyer helped GAW to strengthen their batting line up. Green's all-round performance in this season and Sinclair's bowling performance rewarded the team with the five wins from nine matches. After struggling at the start of the tournament, GAW won 2 consecutive games against STKNP and JT. Also, after losing the game against TKR, GAW clinched 2 victories in two consecutive games by executing good performance in both bowling as well as batting departments.
On Tuesday, GAW defeated the defending champions Barbados Tridents by 8 wickets after bowling first and restricted BT on 92 runs only. Superb bowling attack from Green claiming 1 wicket for just 3 runs from 4 overs with 2 maiden overs and Naveen's spell of 4 wickets for 14 runs from 4 overs helped GAW to collapse BT's inning in 12 overs grabbing 8 wickets just for 27 runs. GAW clinched victory in this match by reaching the target in 16 overs. Yesterday, against ZOUKS, GAW delivered a good bowling performance by restricting ZOUKS on 109 only. Again superb spells by Naveen and K Paul along with a fifty by Hetmyer during chasing, helped Warriors to claim 2 points and climb up to 2nd spot in the points table. Having just 1 last match from the league stage in hand GAW are looking to book their spot in semis.

For the side that won CPL last year, it's been a tough journey in this year's tournament. Tridents won just 2 games from the 8 matches they have played so far. With that 2 wins, they are at the fifth place in the points table, just above STKNP. Mitchell Santner's spell of 2 wickets for 18 runs from 4 overs and Rashid Khan's spell claiming 2 for 27 in the first game against STKNP, helped BT to clinch their first victory in this season. Later on, just winning against JT, Tridents struggled a lot in this CPL. After a brilliant bowling attack by Reifer, Walsh, and Rashid against the ZOUKS, BT restricted ZOUKS just on 92 runs. But BT's batting collapsed while chasing a target of just 92 which helped ZOUKS to claim 2 points against BT.
Similarly, for the second time, BT's batting lineup collapsed horribly against GAW. After scoring just 27/8 in the first 12 overs, Mitchell Santner's 36 and partnership of 48 runs with Rashid Khan for 9th wicket helped to drag Barbados Tridents to a total of 92 runs. GAW won this match by 8 wickets. Defending champions are struggling with their batting performance throughout the tournament. Remaining just 2 games in hand BT are looking forward to putting some big scores on board and aiming to make constructive team performance at the final stage of the tournament.
