The franchise will be looking to make amends for their mistakes made in their opening game against Barbados Tridents.
St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots won the toss and opted to bowl first. The decision proved to be a decent one as bowlers made early inroads to reduce Barbados Tridents to 3 for 8 after 2.3 overs.
Johnson Charles, Shai Hope and Corey Anderson failed to make an impression with the bat and perished for low scores. Rookie batsman Kyle Mayers and Skipper Jason Holder led the fightback for Tridents to see Patriots lose their discipline with the ball.
Skipper Rayad Emrit, Sohail Tanvir and Sheldon Cottrell bowled exceedingly well and claimed two wickets each to restrict Barbados Tridents to 153 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Chasing 154 runs for victory, openers Chris Lynn and Evin Lewis got the side off to a decent start. The duo added 30-run partnership for the opening wicket.
Lynn and Lewis failed to capitalize on their good starts and perished in quick succession. Lynn scored 17 runs off 19 balls, whereas Lewis scored 12 runs off 18 balls with the help of two boundaries. Joshua De Silva and Ben Duck came together at the crease and put on a 50-run partnership to keep their side in the hunt to win the match.
Playing his first game for Patriots, Dunk played well and smashed 34 runs off 21 balls with the help of three boundaries and one six. Despite losing Dunk in the 12th over, Joshua De Silva added another 35 run with wicket-keeper batsman Denesh Ramdin to see Patriots move close to the target.
Denesh Ramdin and Jahmar Hamilton were dismissed in quick succession by Leg-spinner Rashid Khan to see Patriots needing 30 runs off 15 balls. Joshua De Silva and Sohail Tanvir produced quick runs at the end it wasn’t enough as the side lost the game by six runs.
For Patriots, Joshua De Silva was the standout performer with the bat with 41 runs off 41 balls with the help of three boundaries.
