The 43rd game of the Big Bash League between Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers would be a very important one for the Hurricanes. With only three wins in ten games, this is their last opportunity to keeping their hopes alive for the rest of the season. The side comes into this game with three losses and a no-result in their last four games.
Adelaide Strikers, on the other hand, would be very confident after their big win against the Brisbane Heat in the last game. The Hobart Hurricanes had made a good start to the season but have lost their way somewhere in the middle of the season. Poor batting and lackluster performance from their bowlers have led them to this situation. They will have to fight it out against a team that is looking in good form for now.
The Strikers would press hard for a win which can take them to No. 2 spot on the points table.

Their last game against the Sydney Sixers was washed away by rain. But before that Matthew Wade’s side had lost three consecutive games. As they play the home game the pressure is clearly on the side to perform. They are in a must-win situation and Wade would expect his men to rise up to the occasion and earn their two points.
Without D’Arcy Short who is on national duty, their batting looks weak at the moment. Wade has played well but the side will need better show from the likes of David Miller, Caleb Jewell and David Miller. These three players have been inconsistent in the season. Ben McDermott and Thomas Rogers have played few decent knocks and the team would count upon them in the finishers’ role.
The side will need a good start with the new ball from Clive Rose and Thomas Rogers. Their inability to pick wickets with the new ball has cost them so far in the tournament. Nathan Ellis and Scott Bolland have done well so far for the side and they will be looking to continue with their form in the next game.
Scott Boland, Nathan Ellis, Thomas Rogers, Clive Rose, Qais Ahmad, Caleb Jewell, Matthew Wade, David Miller, J Doran, George Bailey, Ben McDermott
Travis Head would have been very happy with the way his side played against Brisbane Heat in the last game. The 10 wicket win and the manner in which their bowlers performed would have added to the confidence of the side. Head would like his side to win this game as they will be close to a berth in the playoffs.
Jake Weatherald and Phillip Salt put up an unbeaten match-winning stand in the last game and they will look to continue with the same form in the next one. They have a good line-up down the order in Head, Jonathan Wells, Matthew Short and Harry Neilson. All these players are good hitters of the ball and they are expected to do well in the game. It was a good bowling show from the side in the last game that earned them a win.
Michael Neser and Rashid Khan were brilliant with the new ball and Wes Agar and Liam O’Connor did well in the middle overs. Peter Siddle has also bowled well in the season and this will give the side lot of confidence going into the game.

There would be odd clouds over Launceston on January 19 and this would offer some assistance to the fast bowlers. A freshly laid surface this one would be a tricky one to bat on. Batsmen will have to be careful in their shot selection. The side that bats first on this surface would be happy to get a score around the 160 run mark.
Aurora Stadium, Launceston is one of the smallest grounds in Australia and batsmen can easily clear the ropes. But the pitch is also known to offer good assistance to the fast bowlers as well as the spinners and the odd ball stops here making it difficult for the batmen to hit. Overall it is a venue that balances it out between the batsmen and the bowlers.
Most teams have preferred to chase scores in this season of the league and being a fresh wicket there would be some assistance for the fast bowlers early in the innings. The side that wins the toss is most likely to opt for bowling first on this surface.
Hosts Hobart Hurricanes are in trouble as they go into the game. They desperately have to win this one after three consecutive losses and a game that saw no result in their last four games. A loss might kill their prospects of making it to the playoffs.
The Adelaide Strikers, on the other hand, come into this game after a massive win and have done well this season. This will make them favorites to win this game.
