Hobart Hurricanes topped the group stage in the previous season with 10 wins out of 14 games Wade. Their dream of winning the maiden BBL trophy crashed as they faced the defeat at the hands of Melbourne Stars in the Semi-Final match.
Sydney Sixers were third in the points table last year with 8 wins out of their 14 games and they too failed to reach the final after losing to the other Melbourne team - Renegades. It is Hobart Hurricane’s first match, while Sydney Sixers already played 1 and which they won against Perth Scorchers. Hurricanes rely more on their batting department with the presence of Wade, D'Arcy and Bailey while the success of Sydney Sixers depends more on their bowlers like Sean Abbott and Steve OKeefe.

The table-toppers of BBL 2018-19 – Hobart Hurricanes have lost Jofra Archer and Tymal Mills this year which would have some impact on when it comes to the pace attack. With David Miller in, the middle order will get much stronger. As Wade made his way to the Australian Test team, he may not be available for the first few games. Though, we could hope to see him in the first game.
Hurricanes’ pace attack includes Riley Meredith and James Faulkner while Qais Ahmed will be the key spinner. After performing well in Sheffield Shield and Marsh Cup this season, Meredith may prove to be their strike bowler with the new ball and at the death. In the last 10 games, Matthew Wade (411 runs) and D’Arcy (380 runs) have scored the most runs for Hobart Hurricanes, however, the contribution of Ben McDermott (376 runs in previous 13 innings) and George Bailey (363 runs in last 12 innings) cannot be ignored. James Faulkner claimed 18 wickets in 13 matches he played in the previous season.
Key Players: George Bailey, D’Arcy Short, David Miller, Riley Meredith
Riley Meredith, Nathan Ellis, Clive Rose, Caleb Jewell, David Miller, Ben McDermott, D'Arcy Short, Simon Milenko, George Bailey, James Faulkner, Qais Ahmad
Sydney Sixers though have Steve Smith in the squad, he will not be playing for the team until late this season. Also, Sydney Sixers are going to miss Nathan Lyon and Hazlewood until the Test series against New Zealand ends. In the first match of the BBL 2019-20 series, the bowlers especially Tom Curran (3 for 32) bowled very well to bowl out Perth Scorchers for 131 runs. Sydney Sixers batsmen chased down the total with comfort thanks to Player of the match Josh Philippe (81 runs in 44 balls). Daniel Hughes who had scored nearly 400 runs in the last season, looked good in the first match for his 22 runs which included 1 six.
In the last 10 games, Hughes (257 runs) and James Vince (282 runs) have been the top-scorers for Sydney Sixers, while Sean Abbott (14 wickets) and Steve O'Keefe (10 wickets) lead the bowling unit.

On the match day, the weather at Alice Springs will be moderate or heavy rain shower daytime temperature reaching 41°c while nighttime minimum temperature is expected to be around 30°c. Around 5.5 mm of precipitation can be expected.
The venue for the match is Traeger Park, Alice Springs.
There is only one BBL match played here in the season 2017-18, between Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers. In this match, Perth Scorchers elected to field first after winning the toss and eventually won the game by chasing down Adelaide’s humble total of 112. The team winning the toss should opt to field first.
The last BBL season was very good for both the teams, especially Hobart Hurricanes who lost just four group-stage games to top the points table, before losing in the semi-final.
Sydney Sixers too had lost the semi-final battle in the previous season, but they started this season on a winning note after defeating Perth Scorchers by 8 wickets. The statistics are not inclined towards any particular team while rain may have its say looking at the weather report. Just the heavy batting unit and their batsmen’s recent form make Hobart Hurricanes a preferred choice to win this game.
