CRICBETTINGBUZZ PREDICTION: Belagavi Panthers to win!
T&Cs apply, 18+
Two teams without a win in the tournament will be looking forward to getting their first points on the board. While the Belagavi Panthers have lost one game against the Bellary Tuskers and another game abandoned due to rain, the Hubli Tigers have lost both their games so far and reside at the bottom of the table. The Belagavi Panthers batting strength has been boosted by the arrival of Manish Pandey and will be itching to have a go at the Tigers bowlers. The Hubli Tigers will need their captain Vinay Kumar to stand up and lead from the front to inspire a collective performance from his team to get the better of the mighty Belagavi Panthers.
The match will feature some of the young and emerging stars from Karnataka in the likes of Luvnith Sisodia, KL Shrijith and Shubang Hegde. The youngsters will be looking up to the senior performers for guidance and to put up an impressive show to catch the eyes of the scouts and selectors present in the stadium.

The Hubli Tigers will be disappointed with their performance so far in the tournament having lost both their games. The batting lineup is talented but has thrown away their wickets after getting to good starts. Their star player Mohammed Taha needs to find his touch back to ensure the Tigers get off to a solid start and post challenging totals. The bowling attack has been pretty decent, restricting the opponents to reasonable scores, but the inconsistent batting has meant that they as of now don’t have any points on the board.
Key Players:
Mohammed Taha: The Hubli Tigers bought the explosive batsmen in this year's auction for a huge sum and big things were expected from Mohammed Taha. But Taha has looked all at sea in an opening couple of games and his team will be hoping that he can regain some of his form from last year. The explosive opener who can tear apart bowling attacks on his own will be looking to provide solidity to the Tigers batting at the top of the order and take advantage of the fielding restrictions.
Vinay Kumar: The old warhorse who has announced his retirement from Karnataka cricket would like to bow out with an impressive performance in this tournament. He has the responsibility as the captain to get the best out of the younger guys and provide guidance. Vinay himself will be expected to contribute with both bat and ball and his captaincy skills.

The Belagavi Panthers will be looking forward to this game as an opportunity to get their first win in this year’s edition after having lost one and another getting abandoned. They have a powerful batting lineup with batting all the way down the order and it is further boosted by the arrival of Manish Pandey after his national team duties. The bowlers will be expected to restrict the opposition to a reasonable total and let the strong batting lineup take care of the rest.
Key Players:
Manish Pandey: The experienced campaigner who’s had a golden run with the India A team and was away for national duty against the West indies is back and adds further strength to the Belagavi batting. He will be looking to continue his form and take the bulk of the batting responsibilities as well as help guide the younger players in the team.
Shubang Hegde: The young allrounder who has played for the India U19 team was retained by the Panthers before this year’s auctions. He is expected to lead the spin attack on pitches which will assist him. He can also be useful with the bat and can provide quick runs at the end of the innings.

The heavy overnight rains and pitches under covers, for the most part, has meant that the wickets have been sticky and hard to get the spinners away. The ball has stopped and come and so it’s not very easy to score quick runs and so totals around 160 have looked a good score and teams have been able to successfully defend it. The weather continues to be an area of concern with matches expected to be interrupted or abandoned by rain in the next week of the tournament.
VENUE
The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore is usually a batter’s paradise with flat decks, short boundaries, and lightning-quick out fields. However with the city getting regular rains and the fresh pitch at the start of the tournament might make the contest a lot more even and bring the bowlers in the game. The ground staff is quite efficient in getting the game started after a rain interruption, and so have ensured as much game time as possible.
The team winning the toss will look to bat first as the pitch has gotten tricky as it has been under covers for a long time. The pitches have become sticky and two-paced and so chasing an above par target is a tough task. Teams will be looking to post a total around the 160 mark and that will provide enough runs for the bowlers to do their magic on a track where the ball is not coming on as well.
The Belagavi Panthers come into this game with the confidence of winning their first game and are boosted by the addition of star India batsmen Manish Pandey. The Hubli Lions batsmen have not carried on from their starts, their bowlers have been inconsistent and the fielding at times has been listless. They will need to perform out of their skin to get a result against the strong Belagavi Panthers team.
The batting depth and explosiveness of the Belagavi Panthers makes them start firm favorites to win their first game of the tournament against the Hubli Lions.
