The opening game of the three-match T-20 series between India and Bangladesh will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on 3rd November.
The Indian team has rested the regular skipper and key batsman Virat Kohli for this series. In his absence, the side will be led by Rohit Sharma. Skipper is in great form in all formats of the game this year and would look to lead the team from the front. In the past decade, India versus Bangladesh has been the new cricket rivalry in Asia. However, the Indian team is undefeated in T-20 against Bangladesh. And hence, Men in blue would be looking to continue with their dominant performances and extend their winning run against Bangladesh.
On the other hand, Bangladesh will be without the services of their skipper and most successful international player, Shakib Al Hasan due to ICC integrity violation. In his absence, all-rounder, Mahmudullah will the side. The team will be relying heavily on the skipper and wicket-keeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim. Their good form will be very important for team success in this series. It will be difficult to ask for visitors to defeat India in their own fortress, however, they would be eager to change the existing trend by registering their first-ever win over India in the shortest format

The Indian team will be without many of their front line players like Virat Kohli, Japrit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya. However, it also provides a great opportunity for the newcomers to make their mark at international level. Indian top-order is very strong and stable, however, men in blue would look to sort out the middle order inconsistency in the series.
At the top, the side got very experienced Shikhar Dhawan, Skipper Rohit Sharma and K L Rahul. The top three have a plethora of experience playing in T-20 at the international level and in IPL. Besides, Rohit Sharma holds very strong records against visitors, he scored 356 runs in just 8 games at an average of 44.50.
The team’s new player, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube, are coming off some magnificent performances in the domestic circuit. Shreyas Iyer has also done well in the limited opportunity at the international level. It would be a good opportunity for S Iyer to seal his place in the top 4. In the all-rounders, Shivam Dube and Krunal Pandya will play a big role in end overs in batting. K Pandya has already proved his mettle in international cricket with his wicket-taking delivery and hard-hitting ability.
On the bowling front, Deepak Chahar is likely to share the new cherry with Khaleel Ahmed. The former has shown the ability to move the ball both ways, outsmarting the batsmen. Possessing a compelling T20I record, Yuzvendra Chahal will be the sole leg-spinner in this line-up. An attacking and a fearless leg-spinner, Chahal holds the record for the best bowling figures by an Indian in T20Is. Key Players: Rohit Shrama, K L Rahul, Krunal Pandya
YS Chahal, Shreyas Iyer, Lokesh Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Deepak Chahar, Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, Khaleel Ahmed, Rishabh Pant, Krunal Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan
Men in green need to come up with much stronger performance and a new strategy to defeat India in their home conditions. Unlike opponent, Bangladesh side will be relying heavily on their key batsmen Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah to score most of the runs. M Rahim scored 165 runs at an average of 33.00 from 8 T20 games against India, highest in the squad. He is a vital cog in visitors batting line-up.
The opening duo, Liton Das and Saumya Sarkar will be looking to provide a great opening stand. The 25-year-old wicket-keeper batsman, Liton Das has emerged as one of the best Bangladeshi batsmen in recent times. He has participated in 22 T20Is for Bangladesh where he has scored 452 runs at a fantastic strike rate of 138.23. However, it won't be easy for duo to score quickly in power play against the quality Indian bowling line-up.
One of the best left-arm fast bowlers produced by Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman had burst into the limelight with his stellar performance against India on debut. Also, he has the experience of playing in a plethora of T20 leagues worldwide. He has also played in IPL. This means that he possesses a proper knowledge about the Indian conditions. From 34 T-20 games, he scalped 52 wickets at a brilliant strike rate of 14.48. Taijul Islam or Shafiul Islam is likely to bowl in the opening spell along with Mushfiqur. Aminul Islam will lead the spin attack. Key Player – Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mustafizur Rahman
Al-Amin Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah, Aminul Islam, Liton Das, Mosaddek Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Naim, Shafiul Islam, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain
The weather forecast for the matchday in Delhi is hazy. However, there isn’t any forecast of precipitation. Pitch is expected to get slower as the game progress.
In the last 5 games, 157 is the highest batting score at this venue, while 143 is the average. Short boundaries at the venue will make things difficult for the spinners. Bowlers need to use variety and sharp bouncers very precisely to put a lid on the runs.
The records are in favour of batting first, out of last 5 completed T20 games, 3 games won by the team batting first, while 2 games by chasing team. Hence, we expect the team winning toss will definitely wish to bat first at this venue.
A look at the current form of the Indian side suggests that it will be very hard to beat them. They got many star performers on their side and they are consistently performing at the international level. Furthermore, they hold a very strong T20 win record against Bangladesh.
In contrast, the Bangladesh team has vulnerabilities in batting and bowling. Many of their players, will be playing the first match in the Indian conditions and it won't be easy for them. Visitors need to play out of their skin to register the first victory against India in T-20. We predict India will win the first game of the series without difficulty and take 1-0 lead in the series.
