T&Cs apply, 18+
South Africa would begin its five-week tour of India when they take on the home side in the 1st T20i of the three-match series at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala. The Indian team has been riding on good form during their recent tour of the West Indies and would look to continue with the same form. For South Africans, it would be their first game after the disastrous campaign they had during the World Cup.
Though India has been one of the best T20 sides in the world they have a poor record playing against the South Africans at home. In the two games that the two sides have played in India, the hosts have lost both. South African team isn’t in the best of form and has many young faces yet to be tested against quality sides. It would be interesting to see their approach, especially how they play against the Indian spinners.

Virat Kohli would be confident when he is out leading the side in the 1st T20i of the series. The team has a good tour of the West Indies where they dominated the hosts in this format. The batting looks well settled and the bowlers also did a great job in the series. The team has never won against South Africa at home and he would want to change that record.
The Indian batting line-up looks formidable ahead of the game with openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma in good form. Kohli, KL Rahul, Washington Sundar and Rishab Pant solidify the batting. Krunal Pandya and Hardik Pandya would be expected to finish things off in style with their hitting abilities.
In the bowling department youngsters, Khaleel Ahmed and Rahul Chahar will have to make good use of the new ball. Washington Sundar and Krunal Pandya will be expected to exploit South Africa’s weakness against spin bowling. Hardik Pandya will have to keep his end tight to keep up the pressure on the South Africans.
Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, Rahul Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed
Quinton de Kock would be aware of the form Indians are in at the moment and also the kind of slump his own team has been through in the last few months. He would be looking to keep the past behind and focus on winning the first game. He would want his side to play Indian spinners well as this is likely to decide the outcome of the game.
They have a formidable batting line-up going into this game with Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks at the top. They will have to score runs quickly against the new ball. In the middle order Rassie van der Dussen, Temba Bavuma, David Miller and Andile Phehlukwayo will have to battle it out against the Indian spinners given their weakness against spin.
Bowling wise Kagiso Rabada will be expected to do the damage in the initial overs and he would expect good support from Junior Dala. Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius and Tabraiz Shamsi will need to bowl tight lines in the game against the strong batting line-up that Indians have.

here are predictions for rain at Dharmashala during the game and this will make batting challenge. The ball is expected to move a bit and the batsmen will need to be watchful with their shot selection. The bounce has been true on this surface and score of 150 odd runs would be a good total here.
VENUE
HPCA Stadium Dharmashala isn’t a typical sub-continental wicket. Located at high altitude it offers good assistance to the fast bowlers with the new ball. The shorter boundaries make run-scoring easy but batsmen need to play to the merit of the ball. The spinners have done well at this venue in the second innings.
In the last six games played at this venue the side batting first has won on all occasions. The pitch tends to become difficult to bat on as the game progresses and the temperature drops. The side winning the toss would have little hesitation in batting first on this surface and putting up a big score.
It is going to be an interesting game as the conditions at this venue is expected to suit the South Africans more than the hosts. The Indian team comes into this game riding high on confidence after their series win in West Indies. For the new-look South African squad, it would be a big challenge after the kind of performance they put up in the world. Indians have a better batting line-up and a good spin attack and this would put them ahead of the South Africans in the game.
