India clinched the T20I series by 2-1 margin after defeating West Indies by 67 runs in the last match. India took a leaf out of the West Indies T20 manual and smashed the ball to all parts of the ground to post a massive 240 runs. India will be a much stronger unit in the ODIs and it is not easy to beat them in the ODIs.
West Indies are going through a torrid time in the ODIs and they have never beaten any team except Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan after the year 2012.
They will look at this series as an opportunity to achieve a win ODI series against a major team like India. India, on the other hand, will look to continue their dominance in the ODI format and will look to surge ahead to the No.1 position held by England currently.

KL Rahul will partner Rohit Sharma in the absence of Shikhar Dhawan in the ODIs too. Skipper Virat Kohli was in sublime form in the T20Is and will come in at No.3 position for India. All three batsmen smashed 70+ scores in the last T20I and are looking in good form and rhythm. Young players Rishab Pant and Shreyas Iyer will form the middle order of the team.
Manish Pandey, Kedhar Jadhav, and Shivam Dubey will fight out for one spot in the playing XI. Mohammed Shami will partner Deepak Chahar with the new ball as Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has an injury scare and India won’t take a risk with their premier bowler. Ravindra Jadeja will be no.1 all-rounder for the team in the ODIs. Kuldeep may get a nod ahead of Yuzi Chahal after his returns in the last T20I match.
Key Players:
Virat Kohli – Virat played two gems of an innings in the first and third T20I matches. He is No.1 ranked ODI batsmen in the ODIs for a long time by a huge margin. We expect Virat to notch up runs for fun in this series.
Mohammed Shami – Shami will spearhead the bowling attack in the absence of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Bumrah. Shami took an ODI hat-trick in the 2019 World Cup and he has bowled superbly in the Tests and T20I matches recently.

West Indies performed well in the T20Is despite they lost the series by 2-1 margin. Skipper Kieron Pollard compiled an attacking 50+ knock in a losing cause in the last match. Shai Hope will return to the squad and partner Evin Lewis at the top of the order. Shimron Hetmyer, Roston Chase, and Nicholas Pooran will form the middle order of the team. Return of Roston Chase and Shai Hope provides solidity to their batting unit along with the flamboyance.
Sheldon Cotrell and Alzarri Joseph will take up the new ball bowling duties in the ODI team. Hayden Walsh will be their second spinner in the team along with Roston Chase and provides variety with his leg-spin. Romario Shepherd and Keemo Paul will fight for the third seamer's slot with Paul expected to pip ahead in the first game.
Key Players:
Shai Hope – Shai Hope made 245 runs in the 3 matches against Afghanistan recently with a century and fifty. He has scored runs against India in their last tour here and will hope to repeat his heroics this time too.
Roston Chase – Chase was awarded the Man of the series against Afghanistan for his 145 runs and 6 wickets with the ball. He will be expected to play a big role with the ball in the sub-continental conditions especially.

Chennai has a cool and breezy climate with small showers over the past week. We expect some shower during the match but we don’t expect it to play a big role.
MA Chidambaram is one of the lively pitches which has some support for both bowlers and batsmen. We can expect average scores in range of 260-280 runs here.
Both teams are comfortable chasing down the total with explosive batting line-ups. Teams winning the toss elect to bowl first in all three T20I matches.
Indian team is a class apart when compared to the West Indies in the ODI format. But, they will miss the services of players such as Dhawan, Bumrah, Hardik, and Bhuvaneshwar in their line-up.
West Indies have a good batting lien-up but lack experience in the bowling department but are not short of quality.
We expect India to win this match.
