The 9th match of the Women’s ICC T20 WorldCup 2020 will be played between India Women and New Zeland Women at Junction Oval stadium in Melbourne. India Women had a great start to the tournament as they have made it two wins from two. They have defeated Formidable Australia Women in the initial game and very clinically Sri Lanka Women in their second game of the tournament.
With four points, India Women are comfortably at top of the point table at the moment. Now, India will need mostly just one win from their remaining two games to qualify for Semis. In the ongoing tournament, India’s bowling has been brilliant as they pulled off two victories while defending the below-par score. Poonam Yadav has been the pick of the bowlers; she picked seven wickets from just two games. Women in blue would be eying for a similar performance against the in-form Kiwis.
On the other hand, New Zeland Women are also brimming with confidence after rolling over Sri Lanka Women in their first game. On head-to-head, New Zealand has 8-3 lead over their opponents and that will provide the women in black boost going into this game. In the last game, Sophie Devine was brilliant during her 75 runs knock. Hayley Jensen was also remarkable with the ball; picked three wickets in last game. The New Zeland Women would look to carry on the good form and record their second victory of the tournament against the in-form India Women side.

India women would be high on confidence following the ideal start to the tournament and they would be hoping for a similar performance against the potentially stronger New Zeland Women team. In batting, Smriti Madhana who has missed the last game due to unwell is likely to play the third game of the tournament. She is India’s best player lately, consistently scored runs at all stages. She is out of the run in last few games and certainly, her big inning is on the card. Batting duo of Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma has been in good form. Shafali Verma has been in outstanding form in the event; she scored 29 of 15 and 39 of 17 balls in earlier two games. She would look to carry on the good form.
Skipper H Kaur failed to make a mark in the last two games. However, she got plenty of experience playing in T20 and her experience certainly made a mark in the last two games. She is also due for a big knock. In the lower order, Deepi Sharma also played a match-winning knock of 49 in the first game against Aussies. In the bowling department, Poonam Yadav who has missed the tri-series due to injury came back with a solid performance. She is currently the leading wicket-taker in the event; picked seven wickets from just two games. Sikha Pandey also supported equally well from another end; picked 5 wickets in last two games. Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Arundhati Reddy will be the other bowlers in the side.

New Zealand record in the last four T20 world cup is not great as they have failed to make it to the semi-final of the tournament in any of those appearances. This time Kiwis have a better squad and they will be desperate to put some poor efforts behind them in the 2020 version of the tournament. New Zealand women have played just one match in the tournament where they have defeated Sri Lanka women very easily by seven wickets.
In the previous game, the batting duo of Devine and Maddy Green played superbly while chasing the score of 128. They counter-attacked and stitched a 61-run partnership for the third wicket and thereby killed any hopes of a Sri Lanka win. Devine remained unbeaten, notched up her sixth successive 50+ score in T20Is and took her team over the line. During the first inning, Sri Lanka got to a good start as opening pair put 60 onboard, however, some outstanding death bowling brings Kiwis back in the game. Hayley Jensen was a pick of the bowlers for her outstanding spell of just 16 runs and three wickets in her four-over spell.
Kiwis is unlikely to make any change in the playing eleven as they would look to go with winning eleven against the in-form Indian side. A lot would depend on skipper Sophie Devine, she is the vital cog in Kiwis batting line up and also in bowling. Currently, S Devine is the second-best ICC T20 women batsmen and all-rounder. In the bowling, Amelia Kerr and Leigh Kasperek good form would be crucial for kiwis to go long way in the tournament.

The 9th match of the Women’s ICC T20 WorldCup 2020 will be played between India Women and New Zeland Women at Junction Oval stadium in Melbourne.
As it is just forty overs game and Junction Oval offers good surface which is unlikely to change during the second inning. Also, out of the earlier four T20 games played at this venue, both batting first and bowling first won the game twice. Hence, the toss winning team is expected to bowl first.
Both the teams are unbeaten in the tournament and hence we expect it to be a thrilling game. However, we predict India will have an edge over Kiwis considering India's bowling performance in the ongoing tournament.
