Jozi Stars would be up against the Tshwane Spartans in the 16th game of the Mzansi Super League.
The hosts Jozi Stars are having a nightmare in the tournament and have lost all their five games so far. Their bowlers are going through miserable form and unable to contain batsmen. Tshwane Spartans, on the other hand, have looked good though three of their games have been washed away by rains. In the current scheme of things, the Jozi Stars have almost lost their chance of making into the playoff stage. The side has failed to do well as a unit and it has been a season where some of the players have shown individual brilliance. As they play the game at home the Stars will be looking to restore some pride and confidence by winning the game against a strong Tshwane Spartans team.

There is a change of venue, there is a change of team but the fortunes refuse to change for Temba Bavuma’s side. In their last game against the Paarl Rocks, the side went down by 4 wickets, their fifth straight loss of the season. Bavuma has to do the pep talk and prepare his side for what is expected to be a battle of character in the next game.
The good news for the side in the last game was openers Ryan Rickelton and Reeza Hendricks playing well but they will need to improve their strike rate going into the game. Chris Gayle has had a bad season and is hurting the side. With Rassie van der Dussen, Daniel Christian and Bavuma lower down the order the side has got good batting talent and they will need to make use of it in the next game.
The side will need a good show with the ball from Kagiso Rabada. He is the only bowler who is looking threatening at the moment for the side. Aaron Phangiso has to support him well. The side will expect better efforts with the ball from the likes of Duanne Olivier, Simon Harmer and Christian going into this game.

The rain has been following Heinrich Klaasen’s side this season and three out of their four games have been affected by rain so far. In the last game against Durban Heat, the side was in a comfortable position when the weather gods intervened and denied them a win. The side looks strong and shall be eager to win the next game. The Spartans have a very good opening pair in Dean Elgar and Theunis de Bruyn. Elgar in particular has looked in great form this season. At No. 3 AB de Villiers adds punch to the batting line-up for the side. Heinrich Klaasen, Petrus van Biljon and Wiaan Mulder with their hitting abilities will look to put up big scores on the board. They have a strong batting line-up and shall look to do well on the best batting track in the country.
In the limited time the side bowled in the last game they were on the money and Lungi Ngidi looked in a good rhythm. Tom Curran has to do well opening with the new ball as he has had a bad season so far. Morne Morkel looks good and with Lutho Sipamla and Roelof van der Merwe in the mix, the bowling attack has the right variety going into this game.
|T de Bruyn||40||25||6||0||160|
The weather is expected to be clear at Johannesburg on November 24th though there would be odd clouds in the sky. The pitch like always at this venue is expected to be a very good surface to bat on where the ball will come on to the bat nicely. The side that bats first on this track will need to score 180 plus to be in a comfortable position.
New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg is the best batting wicket in South Africa and probably among the best in the world. The ball hits the bat hard and the electrifying outfield makes it a great venue for stroke-making. There is little in there for the fast bowlers on this surface and they need to outsmart the batsmen to do well here.
A lot of runs have been scored in the two games that have been played so far at the venue. Stroke making is easy here as the bounce is true. Teams that have batted first have won more games here and we expect the skipper winning the toss to elect batting first in the game.
It has been a horrible season so far for the hosts Jozi Stars. They have lost all their games and what’s even worse is that the team has failed to put up a stiff fight in most of the games so far. Tshwane Spartans, on the other hand, look in much better form and have a batting line-up that has shown good form so far in the tournament. Considering the form the hosts find themselves in at the moment the Tshwane Spartans will start as favorites in this game.
