T&Cs apply, 18+
Jamaica Tallawahs’s first loss was against Trinbago Knight Riders, but their second loss against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots was more painful, as they could not defend the record total of 241 runs. Andre Russell has already shown his glimpse of power-hitting against the Knight Riders while Gayle’s 22nd T20 century went in vain as Patriots pulled-off a record chase. The batting is undoubtedly their forte, however, they need to work on their bowling department. Daren Sammy's Zouks also lost two games in a row. They had chance to defeat Guyana in their first match at Providence, which they lost by 13 runs. In the second game, there was hardly any chance created by Zouks’ bowlers while Trinbago Knight Riders comfortably chased down the target of 168 in 17.8 overs. One team here will eventually open their account.

The Tallawahs lost their opening match against Trinbago by 22 runs while chasing a huge total of 191 runs. The homecoming-game of Gayle (scored 28 in 20 balls with 3 sixes and a four) did not produce the desired result for Jamaica. Their bowlers disappointed as they had opted to field first after winning the toss. Their four bowlers conceded runs at more than 9 per over. George Worker (46 runs off 33) and Russell (44 runs off 24 – 4 fours and 4 sixes) added 67 runs together but it was not enough, as top order failed to give a good start while chasing 190 plus runs.
In the second game, Jamaica posted CPL’s highest-ever total of 241 runs in 20 overs. With 10 sixes and 7 fours, Chris Gayle scored 116 off 62 balls, while Chadwick Walton’s smashed 73 runs with 200 plus strike rate. However, all of their bowlers failed miserably, giving away more than 10 runs an over, due to which the target of 242 did not look threatening to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots batsmen. Thomas took four wickets and Russell had 2, but together they conceded 107 runs. Jamaica’s batting is of top-notch, but twice they are let-down by the bowlers, which is a point of concern for the franchise. Without an improvement in the bowling unit, it would be difficult for Jamaica to stay in the contest for long.
Glenn Phillips (457 runs in 11 innings of CPL 2018) and Rovman Powell (329 runs in 10 innings of CPL 2018) are the key players for Jamaica Tallawahs apart from Gayle and Russell.

Before losing to Trinbago Knight Riders at Port of Spain, St Lucia Zouks lost their opening game against Guyana Amazon Warriors. Obed McCoy’s 4 for 41 and Fawad Ahmed’s 2 for 25 had helped the team to restrict Guyana at 155. They looked in control during the initial phase of their run-chase. This was mainly because of Antigua born heavy-weight all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall, who made 36 runs in just 14 runs (7 fours and a six). But Guyana’s spin-attack eventually stopped the Zouks within 13 runs of the winning total.
Against Trinbago, they opted to bat first and made 167 runs batting first, which looked like an above-par score. Cornwall once again gave a very good start with his 12 balls 33 (5 fours, 2 sixes), but Andre Fletcher struggled a bit for his 32 balls 26. Kesrick Williams, Fawad Ahmed and Kavem Hodge took 1 wicket each, but Fawad Ahmed was quite expensive for 41 runs in his 3 overs. While McCoy was economical with 21 runs in 3.5 overs, but other bowlers gave away runs freely, as Trinbago sealed the match two overs to spare. They need more clinical performances in upcoming matches to place themselves at a better position in the points table and a lot depends on Daren Sammy alone.
