Both Jamaica Tallawahs and St Lucia Zouks will take on each other in their opening game of the CPL 2020 on Tuesday. Both the team had a very disappointing season of CPL2019 and they will be looking forward to turning their fortunes this season. In the history of CPL, Jamaica Tallawahs has been the most successful team as season after season they have consistently delivered great performances and always amongst the top teams in point table. However, they would look to forget 2019 season and come back stronger with some solid performances in 2020.
The 2013 and 2017 CPL champion team, Jamaica Tallawahs, got great all-rounder and power-hitter players like Andre Russell and Carlos Braithwaite in the squad. Jamaica Tallawahs skipper Rovman Powell and co will be hoping for clinical performance and start a CPL2020 with a winning note.
On the other hands, St Lucia Zouks has been one of the underachiever team in the history of CPL. In their previous eight seasons of CPL, they never make it top three teams in any of the season. In the last season, they were placed at the 5th place amongst the six teams. This year, the SLZ side will be without the services of the T20 star player, Chris Gayle, who has pulled out citing personal reasons. St Lucia Zouks will also be without the new signed SA player, R Rossuew and Anrich Nortje as due to travelling issue they won't able to join the SLZ. However, despite the absence of T20 stalwarts, SLZ got great experienced as well as a young talented player in their squad. Hence, Darren Sammy led side will be looking to start the season with a bang and will be aiming to qualify for the first time.

Jamaica Tallawahs has been the second most successful team in the CPL so far as they played the playoffs in previous six out of seven seasons. Despite a poor outing in last season, JL is one of the formidable team of the CPL. At the top, Gleen Philipps will open the inning, he has got huge success while opening for the team. Notably, he was a top-scorer for Tallawahs with 374 runs in last season. He is a key player and his good form will be very crucial for the Tallawahs to go long way in the tournament.
In the middle order, Jamaica Tallawahs got the best of the T20 all-rounder in their rank; Andre Russell and Carlos Brathwaite. Both are capable of chasing any target and take the game away from any opponent with their batting or effective bowling. Andre Russell is always the player to watch out for in any T20 league across the globe. His power-hitting skills have made many records to his name in T20. Notably, he has played 57 matched for the JL franchise which is most by any player in CPL.
On the bowling front, pace attack will be led by Oshane Thomas, Andre Russell and Carlos Brathwaite. In the spin department, Tallawahs side got Sandeep Lamicchane, the young and talented leg spinner from Nepal. Last season, Jamaica Tallawahs bowlers failed miserably and that was the main cause for their failure however bowler must have rectified their mistakes and would be hoping for an amazing performance this season.

St Lucia Zouks despite having many T20 stalwarts in their teams over the year, they have failed to make it top three teams of any previous CPL season. In the last season, they have finished fifth in point table. Chris Gayle, the T20 star player who was expected to join the SLZ has opted out due to personal reason. Zouks will also miss the likes of Ingram and Rossouw in batting department this season.
Despite the absence of a few key batsmen, St Lucia Zouks got a solid and balanced squad. At the top, Andre Fletcher and Rakheem Cornwall are likely to open the inning for their team. R Cornwall was a top scorer for the side last year with 254 runs from 10 games. He will be eying for the similar performance this season. His opening partner, A Fletcher didn’t have great outing last season as he scored with an average of just 20.44 which is well below for the player of his calibre. But, the onus will be on him for St Lucia Zouks to go long ay in the tournament. Fletcher scored 476 runs and averages 47.60 against Jamaica Tallawahs. At three, Jonathan Wells can anchor the inning and make sure the team gets to a respectable score. Middle-order comprising of skipper Darren Samy, Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi can provide the finishing touch.
In the bowling department, Kesrick Williams will be key the bowler, he is very skilful T20 bowler. Chemar Holder the exciting and talented fast windies bowler will be the great prospect to watch out this season. Nabi will lead a spin attack for the St Lucia Zouks.

The weather will be partly sunny with a couple of showers and thunderstorms. Pitch is expected to assist the batsmen and hence expecting it to be a high scoring game.
The match will be played at Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.
Considering the weather conditions and their first game of the season, both team will like to chase the score. Hence, the team winning the toss would like to bowl first.
Jamaica Tallawahs squad looks quite formidable with the likes of all-rounders in their unit. On the contrary, St Lucia Zouks will be relying heavily on their key players and in the middle order batting, they lack firepower. Also, statistically, Jamaica Tallawahs holds the upper hand and hence we predict they are the favourites to win this game.
