Dinesh Karthik’s Kolkata Knight Riders and MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings take on each other in match 21st of IPL 2020 on Wednesday. After losing the first game of the season, KKR looked impressive in the following games. Now, with two wins from four games, they are currently placed at fourth place on the table. KRR has got good pace attack and power hitter in their rank. KKR all-rounder Andre Russell is one of the best hitters in the shorter format of the game. In the previous game, KKR batting looked pretty ordinary and they will be hoping to come back strongly as a unit and get the win over CSK.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings after a failure in the initial few games came back strongly and register a clinical win over KXIP in the previous game. Veteran Shane Watson unbeaten 83 and Duplessis unbeaten 87 help CSK chase down the target of 179 with ease. Their opening partnership of 181 is a second highest in 10 wicket win in the IPL. Their bowling unit also did a commendable job to restrict the run-flow in end overs. CSK is a second most successful franchise in the IPL and they got the most experienced squad in the IPL 2020. MS Dhoni and Co. will aim to keep the momentum by registering the third win of the season.

KKR side has done a decent job so far after winning two out of four games. In their lost games against, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, their batting didn’t click as a unit and death bowling were ordinary. In the top order batting, Shubman Gill looks very confident after scoring 152 from 4 games at an average of 50.67. The youngster, however, needs to convert his initial start to a match-winning inning. His opening partner, S Narine continues to struggle against the short ball. Hence, there won’t be any surprise if KKR replaces R Tripathi in the opening slot in place of Narine. Skipper D Kartik promotion in the batting order didn’t help KKR so far. He is a very established batsman and his good form will be very vital for the KKR to a long way in the season. Inclusion of England skipper Eoin Morgan has proved successful as southpaw played impact knock in the earlier games.
In the middle order, the opponent team has kept all-rounder Andre Russell quiet so far this season. He is a KKR key player and hence onus will be on him to contribute with both bat and ball. KRR has got depth and plenty fo variety in their bowling and that’s the biggest positive for the side Pace bowling unit led by Pat Cummins, S Mavi and K Nagarkoti done the stupendous job for their team. However, KKR’s strength of spin bowling attack looks weak and out of form this season. Their lead spinner Sunil Narine went for plenty and also haven’t picked many wickets so far. Bowling unit needs to be smart and disciplined against CSK’s batting line-up.

CSK team led by former Indian skipper MS Dhoni bounced back stupendously after three defeat in a row and winning a game with 10 wickets in hand. MS Dhoni and co. would have never dreamt of a better return than this. Their faith in the out of form S Watson paid off. Veteran S Watson along with in-form Faf Duplessis put a record partnership of 181 and powered CSK to a second win of the season. Proteas former skipper Faf du Plessis is the leading scorer for CSK; smashed 282 runs at a staggering average of 94. He is currently second in leading scorer list. Notably, Duplessis smashed three fifties from five games. Ones again, the responsibility will be on the opening duo to provide a solid opening stand. Ambati Raydu is another solid Indian batsman in their rank; he played match-winning knock of 48 balls 71 in the season opener. He is a very good player of spin and pace and, can take the game away from opponent ones get going.
In the middle order, most capped IPL player, MS Dhoni has struggled to score freely in the ongoing season. Arguably, he is one of the best hitters of the ball but he is not at his best however his power-hitting in the end overs is very crucial for CSK to go long way in the tournament. Bowling unit comprising of Deepak Chahar, S Curran and S Thakur did a decent job. D Chahar and S Curran, both took 11 wickets amongst them.
