In the 54th game of the IPL 2020, Kolkata Knight Riders will take on spirited Rajasthan Royals at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. It’s a big game for both teams, as its final league game for them and must win as well for hoping to qualify in playoffs. Currently, both KKR and RR have 12 points from last 13 league games, but RR with better NRR placed at 5th place on the point table and KRR on 6th. KKR side led by Eoin Morgan would be very disappointed following their performances in the last two games and making things difficult for qualification. KKR has plenty of stalwarts in their rank however they have failed to deliver at a big stage. In batting, S Gill and Nitish Rana are doing a great job for KKR and V Chakravarthy has been a standout bowler for KRR. Riders will leave no stone unturned in their final league game and hope for a win.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals back in the qualification race after a thumping run chase in the last two games. They chase down the target of 180+ with ease and 6+ wickets in hand. All-rounder Ben Stokes lived up to the reputation of delivering on the big stage; southpaw smashed unbeaten 107 against MI and 26 balls 50 in the last match against KXIP. RR skipper Steve Smith would be very content by the team performance in last two games and making the playoffs hopes still alive. However, RR needs to win this game for sure and also results of other games in their favour to make it to playoffs. Steve Smith and co. will look to carry on the good form and register a third win in a row.

KKR side has found themselves in a difficult situation after the last-balls defeat against CSK in the previous match. Now, likewise the opponent team, they desperately need to win this game and some fortunes to qualify for playoffs. In the last few games, KKR batting hasn’t clicked as a unit, few individuals have scored heavily but its never enough for any team to win a game. They need a complete performance with both bat and ball. So far in the ongoing season, Shubhman Gill is the leading scorer for KKR with 404 runs from 13 games at an average of 33.67. However, opener needs to works on his strike rate and provide some fire-power in the powerplay. Promotion of Nitish Rana in batting proved successful as the southpaw smashed his IPL best score of 61 balls 87. Rana has been a consistent performer with the bat for his side, he scored 352 from 13 games at an average of 27.08 and strike rate of 139.
In the middle order, Eoin Morgan and Karthik have done a decent job but lack consistency. Batting duo is the most experienced in the squad and they need to rose to the occasion in this crucial game. KRR has got depth and plenty fo variety in their bowling and that’s the biggest positive for the side. Pace bowling unit led by Pat Cummins, Ferguson and K Nagarkoti looked good in patches but they have struggled to pick wickets and that’s very important for winning a game. Spinner V Chakravarthy has been standout bowler this season, he picked 15 wickets which also includes a five-per. He will be aiming for another match-winning spell.

In the middle-order, R Tewatia has done everything he can do his team, he won a couple of games for his side and playing his all-rounder to perfection. He has bowled with great pace and picked more wickets than anyone else in Powerplay. J Archer bagged 19 wickets from 12 matches so far this season and at an economy of less than 7. From the last 12 IPL matches, more than 70% matches won by batting first team. Records are clearly in favour of batting first team and hence both the team will look to bat first after winning the toss.
Considering the performances of the last few games of both the team, RR’s batting looks very formidable and their top-order scoring big runs. In bowling, RR have Jofra Archer, who is the most effective pace bowler in the league.
