Teams Preview

Karachi Kings

The franchise will be determined to put in a pitch-perfect performance in this grand-finale. The side lost their head coach Dean Jones earlier this year and will be keen to dedicate their victory to him.

Pacer Mohammad Amir put in terrific bowling performance in the super-over to help Karachi seal their place in the PSL finals. With this result, Karachi will be looking to win the maiden trophy in front of their home crowds.

In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of Babar Azam, Alex Hales and Sharjeel Khan to deliver the bulk of the runs.

With 410 runs in 11 matches at an average of 51.25, Babar Azam has been standout player with the bat for Karachi Kings. Babar Azam also make a notable contribution with the bat in the Qualifier 1 game and smashed 65 runs off 53 balls with the help of five boundaries and two sixes.

Besides Babar Azam, Alex Hales has contributed well to the team’s cause in this year’s competition. The 31-year old has accumulated 261 runs in eight innings at an average of 52.20 with two half-centuries to his name.

Kings have quality players like Sharjeel Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed and Chadwick Walton, who can change the complexion of the game in a space of few overs.

Captain Imad Wasim put in crucial innings for Karachi Kings in the Qualifier 1 game and smashed unbeaten 27 off 16 balls with the help of two fours and one six.

In the bowling department, the likes of Imad Wasim, Arshad Iqbal and Mohammad Amir will need to make crucial breakthroughs. Arshad Iqbal and Waqas Maqsood bowled well and claimed two wickets, whereas Imad Wasim picked one up wicket in his two overs

Lahore Qalandars

The franchise will have an opportunity to shed their tag of perennial underachievers in this grand finale against Karachi Kings.

In the Qualifier 2 game, Lahore Qalandars batted first after Multan Sultans won the toss and opted to bowl first. Openers Tamim Iqbal and Fakhar Zaman got the side off to a flying start, courtesy 46-run partnership for the opening wicket.

Tamim Iqbal was first to be dismissed after scoring 30 runs off 20 balls with the help of five boundaries and one six. Captain Sohail Akhtar’s poor form continued as he perished for a low score to see Qalandars lose their second wicket with 54 runs on the board.

Fakhar Zaman found form with the bat in this knockout game and stitched crucial partnerships with Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Hafeez. Left-hander smashed 46 runs off 36 balls with the help of four boundaries and two sixes.

With Zaman falling four shorts of a half-century and Ben Dunk dismissed by Shahid Afridi in the 14th over, it looked like Lahore Qalandars to go past 150-run mark.

All-rounder duo of David Wiese and Samit Patel came together at the crease and turned the game in favor of Lahore Qalandars with a 59-run partnership.

For Lahore Qalandars, David Wiese smashed 48 not out off 21 balls with the help of five boundaries and three sixes. He was well supported by Samit Patel, who chipped in with 26 runs off 16 balls with the help of four boundaries.

Left-arm quick Shaheen Shah Afridi is currently leading wicket-taker in the competition with 15 scalps to his name.

Haris Rauf, David Wiese claimed three wickets in the Qualifier 2 game against Multan Sultans, whereas Shaheen Shah Afridi and Dilbar Hussain claimed two wickets each.
