Tournament favorites Northern Warriors would be locking horns with an equally competent Maratha Arabians in the opening match of T10 League 2019 scheduled to take place on November 15 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, in Abu Dhabi.
The Warriors last played against the Arabians in the Eliminator stages of the last edition wherein the former outwitted the latter by a decent proportion. Both the team would be missing out on some crucial players, making it all the more interesting as to how the competing units perform in the forthcoming duel.

The Dwayne Bravo-led Maratha Arabians would be banking on the experience of Lasith Malinga and Yuvraj Singh in the much-anticipated duel. The likes of Najibullah Zadran and Hazratullah Zazai will be missing out on the initial matches owing to their international commitments in the ongoing T20I series between Afghanistan and West Indies.
Dwayne Bravo would be carrying the onus of ensuring the Arabian’s victory in the opening match of the season. The All-rounder has been one of the most celebrated cricketers across the T20 formats and would be hoped to render a match-winning exhibition versus Darren Sammy & Co. Chris Lynn is another fine prospect whose presence could be of great value for the Maratha Arabians in the coming feud. The opener has been terrific form in the T20s played this year, and in case the conditions assist, could single-handedly win games for the Dwayne Bravo-captained side in what is being anticipated as a cracker of a duel.
Chadwick Walton, Dwayne Bravo, Lasith Malinga, Mitchell McClenaghan, James Fuller, Yuvraj Singh, Dasun Shanaka, Chris Lynn, Wanidu Hasaranga, Shiraz Ahmed, Adam Lyth
The tourists would be missing out on the services of Lendl Simmons and Nicholas Pooran in the initial stages of T10 League 2019. While the former is busy with his international commitments, the latter might miss owing to the ban sustained in international cricket. Also, Karim Janat won’t be available for his presence in Afghanistan’s squad for the upcoming T20Is.
Andre Russell will be a vital cog for the Warriors in the much-coveted duel. The all-rounder’s stupendous performances across the T20 formats played this year is something that shouldn’t be forgotten for the matches to come. Chris Green was among the top performers for Guyana Amazon Warriors throughout CPL 2019 wherein they lost out to Barbados Tridents in the finals. One could vouch for the South Africa-born all-rounder to render a sparkling exhibition amidst the conditions of Abu Dhabi.
Sam Billings, Ansh Tandon, George Munsey, Sikandar Raza, Christopher Green, Asela Gunaratne, RR Emrit, CP Wood, Nuwan Pradeep, DJG Sammy, Andre Russell
Conditions will favor the bowlers throughout the contest, while there be something to offer for the batsmen as well. A complete 20-overs of play could be expected at Abu Dhabi with zero rain interruptions throughout the contest.
The pitch at Abu Dhabi has been a bowler's delight, however, it could offer something to the batters in the later stages of the contest.
The toss winning captain would be advised to bowl first in the coming duel. Not to forget, the Northern Warriors had won both the encounters versus Warriors by opting to bowl first in the previous edition of the T10 league.
Northern Warriors would be the favorites for the coming contest. The absence of Nicholas Pooran would have surely hurt the Warriors considering he was the top-performer in the previous edition, they could still be hoped to outwit the likes of Dwayne Bravo & Co in the tournament opener.
We expect Northern Warriors to win!
