Mumbai Indians lock horns with Rajasthan Royals in the 24th match of IPL 2021 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday. Defending champion Mumbai Indians enter this game on the back of a consecutive defeat. From the first five games, MI has won just two games and with negative NRR they are currently at fifth place on the point table. Playing on the slower track in previous matches, MI’s batting didn’t click completely and they failed to deliver complete performance. Their firepower has struggled while playing on the slower track. Skipper Rohit Sharma is in great form and leading the team from the front, he would be hoping for the clinical performance and get back in winning ways.
On the other hand, likewise opponent team MI, RR also got two wins from the last five games however they are coming into this game on the back of a victory against KKR in the last game. RR bowling this season looks pretty decent despite the absence of few frontline bowlers, but they need consistency from their top-order batsmen like Butler, Samson and Miller. Notably, RR recent record against the defending champion is great as they win 5 out of their last 6 games, this will give a boost for Samson and co and they will be keen to continue their winning momentum.

Mumbai Indian is the most successful team in the history of IPL after winning five trophies and the defending champion as well. Mumbai got a very strong squad and their players did well consistently however in the ongoing edition of IPL their middle-order batting looks out of touch. So, MI would be aiming to address their batting woes to achieve consistency when they take on RR. In the batting, skipper Rohit Sharma is leading from the front, he scored 201 runs from the last 5 innings at an average of 40. He is a vital cog in MI’s batting line-up and hence onus will be on him to do the bulk of the scoring. At 3 & 4, MI got S Yadav and I Kishan, both got huge success in the last season, however, they failed to produce likewise performance. Surya did play some impact knock but failed to deliver his promise. S Yadav scored 279 runs at an average of 55 against the RR, he is certainly the player to watch out for in this contest.
In the middle-order, MI’s firepower of K Pollard, H Pandya and K Pandya has struggled while batting on the slower track. Batting trio good form is very crucial for MI to go long way in the tournament. On the bowling front, MI got one of the best attacks in the ongoing IPL 2021 edition. Pacers Bumrah and T Boult were outstanding and helped MI defending the below-par total. The bowling duo possesses great skills to bowled in the powerplay and also in death overs. In spin, leggie Rahul Chahar was very impressive the middle-overs, he bagged 9 wickets from 5 games.

Rajasthan Royals who had handed the wooden spoon in the previous season looked very desperate to set the record straight in the ongoing season. However, their middle-order worries from the previous season continue. RR are currently placed at 7th place on the table at present with just 4 points from five games. In batting, the Royals are relying heavily on their top-order batsmen like Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson. However, the batting duo has struggled to consistently perform and in the middle-order RR got very less firepower who can win the match on their own. Skipper Sanju Samson had a promising start to the season where he played one of the best knocks in the history of IPL and scored 63 balls 119 which includes 7 sixes and 12 fours opposite KXIP. However, following that, Samson got very little success Opener Jos Buttler, arguably one of the top players in T20 had a quiet season so far. However, Buttler averages 86.33 against MI with 259 runs from 4 innings and he will be hoping to get back in form with some match-winning knock.
In the middle-order, S Dube, R Parag and R Tewatia have played to make an impact and they would be hoping to score some runs and get the confidence. RR would be relying on D Miller and Chris Morris in the middle-order to play some quick runs. RR pace attack comprising J Unadakat, Mustafizur, C Sakariya and C Morris were remarkable in the earlier games on the bowling front. C Morris is a leading wicket-taker for RR with 9 wickets from 5 games. C Sakariya was also impressive in his IPL career of just 5 games; he picked 7 wickets and RR’s best bowler so far. He has shown great courage while bowling upfront and in death overs.

The weather forecast in Delhi on Thursday is mostly sunny and very warm. It is expected to be very humid. Pitches at Arjun Jaitly stadium are usually on the slower side and spinners get more assistance.
The match will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
This will be the second match of the season at this venue. Considering the nature of the format and the slower track, both the teams would be looking to bowl first after winning the toss.
MI and RR both teams got great T20 batsmen in their rank hence we expect it to be another thrilling game of cricket. However, MI’s bowling attack looks more threatening and they got variety in their bowling when compared with RR. MI’s got more firepower in their rank and hence we expect defending champion will come out good in this game and get back in winning ways.
We predict Mumbai Indians will win this match.
