Melbourne Stars to win this game!

The 8th game of the Big Bash League 2019-20 will be an interesting one where hosts Melbourne Stars shall take on Hobart Hurricanes. Both sides have won their respective season openers and look in good form.
While the Stars defeated Brisbane Heat in their first game convincingly the Hurricanes defeated the Sydney Sixers and successfully defended a low total. Over the years the two sides have been involved in several close encounters but Melbourne Stars have been slightly better of the two sides. The fact that the Stars are playing at home and would have the crowds cheering for them adds to their advantage. It will be interesting to see how the Hurricanes’ batsmen approach the game after their failure in the last game.

Glenn Maxwell’s side began the tournament in style winning their first game against the Brisbane Heat. It was a good show from the batsmen and the bowlers that helped the side win the game. Maxwell would want his side to carry the same form into the next game and win it in front of the home crowd. Glenn Maxwell made a strong statement with the bat in the last game and this would have surely lifted the spirits in the camp.
The side would, however, expect a better start from openers Nic Maddinson and Marcus Stoinis. Hilton Cartwright and Peter Handscomb will look to convert their starts into big scores which they failed to do in the last game. Batting looks good for the side going into the game. It was a good show from their bowlers especially Daniel Worral and Adam Zampa who picked five wickets between them in the last game. Haris Rauf also did well with the ball and going into the next game the side will expect a better show from Sandeep Lamichhane who failed in the last game.

Ben McDermott would have thanked his bowlers in the last game after they successfully defended a low score against Sydney Sixers. Halfway through the game, the cause seems to have been lost. Going into the next game the McDermott would want his batsmen to put up a higher score on the board.
D'Arcy Short began from where he had left last year but other batsmen failed in the game. Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott and David Miller will have to stick their ground in the next game. With George Bailey and Simon Milenko down the order, the side packs great abilities in its batting and they have to deliver the goods. Qais Ahmed and Riley Meredith bowled exceedingly well in the last game to script a victory for the side. James Faulkner also did well with the ball. Clive Rose was expensive and he will need to do well with the new ball in the next game. They have a good variety in the attack with Nathan Ellis and Milenko in the attack.

There would be odd clouds over Victoria on December 22 but it isn’t expected to play a major role during the game. This is a fresh pitch where bowlers would be able to attract some pace and bounce initially but by and large it will be an easy surface to bat on where plenty of runs are expected during the game.
Ted Summerton Reserve, Moe, Victoria is one of the smaller grounds in Australia and this allows the batsmen to free their arms and hit boundaries. Fast bowlers do get initial movement and carry of the surface in the early overs and spinners who give the ball air have done well here.
It is known to be a surface where the batsmen can hit through the line from the start of the game. Lot of runs has been scored here in the regional games that have been played. Sides batting first have won more games here and hence we expect the side winning the toss to bat first in the upcoming game.
It will be an interesting clash as both Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes have started the tournament well winning their respective games. While it was a good show from the Stars in their opening game Hurricanes’ batsmen failed to deliver in the first game which will be one of the areas they need to work out.
Melbourne Stars would be playing at home and this would give them a slight edge going into this game making them favorites.
