Match Preview

It was a surprise loss for hosts Netherlands in the first game of the four-match T20 series against the United Arab Emirates. They looked scratchy while bowling and allowed UAE to put up a huge score on the board. During the chase, they were always behind the asking rate. UAE players would have rejoiced this victory as it was their first against the Netherlands in this format of the game.

The Netherlands were a little complacent in the last game which was evident from the way they bowled during the game. The skipper would want his side to recover from this defeat ahead of the next game. UAE doesn’t have the best record playing in these conditions and hence it would be interesting to see how they approach the next game.

Teams Preview

Netherlands

Pieter Seelaar, the Dutch skipper would be upset with the performance his side put up in the first game. It was their bowling attack that let the side down in the last game. Having their backs to the wall Seelaar would want his boys to rise up to the big challenge at hand and win the next game.

The batsmen did well especially the top order Max O’Dowd, Ben Cooper, and Scott Edwards but the side was always behind the scoring rate which they will need to fix ahead of the next game. Stephan Myburgh, Antonius Steel and skipper Seelar would be expected to do well with the bat in the next game.

It was their bowling attack that was all over the place in the last game and apart from Seelaar none of the bowlers were able to check their line and length. In the next game, the team management would want to see better efforts from Hidde Overdijk, Brandon Glover and Vivian Kingma.

Netherlands Predicted Playing XI

Pieter Seelaar (C), Stephan Myburgh, Max O’Dowd, Sikander Zulfiqar, Saqib Zulfiqar, Ben Cooper, Scott Edwards (wk), Vivian Kingma, Hidde Overdijk, Brandon Glover, Antonius Staal

United Arab Emirates

Muhammad Naveed’s side scripted history in the last game as they defeated the Netherlands for the first time and won their first T20 game on European soil. Having batted and bowled well in the last game the skipper would want his side to carry on with the same form in the next one.

Rohan Mustafa batted brilliantly in the last game and there was a good contribution from Muhammad Usman towards the end. Ghulam Shabber and Darius D'Silva also did well with the bat in the last game. With Ashfaq Ahmed and Rameez Shahzad in the line-up, the batting has the firepower to win it for the side.

In the bowling department, Mustafa did well and there was a good show from Zahoor Khan in the last game. The side would want the likes of Mohammad Naveed, Sultan Ahmed, and Ahmed Raza to do well in the next game as the trio went for many runs in the last game.

United Arab Emirates Predicted Playing XI

Muhammad Naveed (C), Rohan Mustafa, Ashfaq Ahmed, Ghulam Shabber (wk), Sultan Ahmed, Rameez Shahzad, Muhammad Usman, Mohammad Boota, Ahmed Raza, Darius D'Silva, Zahoor Khan

Pitch And Weather Conditions

It would be clear skies in Amstelveen on August 05 and the batting conditions are expected to be perfect for the game. The pitch was flat in the last game and is expected to remain the same in the next one and the side batting first would need to score 170-180 runs in the next game.

VENUE

VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen has always been a good batting surface though the fast bowlers do get some assistance with the new ball. The ball comes onto the bat nicely and batsmen can easily hit through the line. With shorter boundaries, it is an easy ground to score.

Toss Prediction

In the last nine games played at this venue the side batting first has won on seven occasions. The pitch gets slightly slower in the second innings when the spinners have a role to play. The side winning the toss wouldn’t have any hesitation in their mind regarding batting first on this surface.

Winning Prediction

United Arab Emirates surprised everyone in the last game as they defeated hosts Netherlands by a convincing margin. They batted well and when it came to their bowling they were able to apply pressure on their opponents. The Netherlands, on the other hand, had a bad day with the ball and would be looking to make a strong comeback. The host thanks to their familiarity with the conditions would be favorites to win this game.
