Bay Giants’ game against Tshwane Spartans was washed out while they won their other two matches against the same team Jozi Stars. Jason Roy has already shown a glimpse of his form at Johannesburg with his glittering innings of 12 balls 31 against Jozi Stars. Though NMBG players are yet to be fully tested against other teams and they need to gear up while playing against last year’s finalists Cape Town Blitz.
Cape Town Blitz played four matches in this tournament, and with 3 wins and 1 loss, they are at the top of the points table. The only loss CTB faced came against Paarl Rocks, in which their batsmen bundled out for 84 in response to 170. However, they won both games against the defending champions Jozi Stars and defeated Durban Heat by 10 runs on Sunday at Durban.

For the side that missed out playoffs berth in the inaugural league in 2018, each game is vital. NMBG stunned MSL 2018 title winner Jozi Stars twice in this tournament.
In the initial game, NMBG defeated JS by 24 runs. Heino Kuhn (47 off 37) and Behardien (48 off 34) played anchoring roles as NMBG posted 167 runs batting first. Chris Morris’ 11 balls 20 towards the end proved crucial as NMBG defeated Jozi Stars by 24 runs. Junior Dala (2 for 35), Imran Tahir (1 for 24 in four overs) and Morris (1 for 20 in four overs) played key roles in defense and restrict the Stars at 143.
Against Tshwane Spartans, before the rain prevented the play, NMBG had taken four wickets for just 33 runs in 7.1 Morris took 2 for 8 runs in his two overs, and Dala grabbed 1 wicket.
In the away match against Jozi Stars, sensational Junior Dala (3 for 19) was awarded the player of the match. He removed power hitter Gayle and the Stars’ skipper Bavuma, which were two of the crucial wickets, and along with Tahir (3 for 23), he enabled the collapse of Jozi Stars at 108 runs. The chase of 109 was accomplished in just 9.1 overs as Roy scored 12 balls 31 while the wicketkeeper Dunk smashed half-century in 30 balls. The skipper JJ Smuts (181 runs in last 9 innings) and Heino Kuhn (122 runs in last 8 innings) are the key batsmen for NMBG while Chris Morris (9 wickets in last 8 matches) and Junior Dala (8 wickets in last 8 matches) are the leading wicket-takers.

Cape Town Blitz launched their MSL 2019 campaign with a win against Jozi Stars. Batting first, CTB posted a huge total of 213 runs, mainly contributed by Janneman Malan (99 runs off 59 balls). Steyn (3 for 25) spearhead the defense to halt the Jozi Stars’ run chase under 200, even when other bowlers were too expensive.
Against Paarl, CTB’s batting collapsed for just 84 runs while chasing Paarl Rocks’ 170. Nortje and Linde shared 6 wickets between them while Steyn conceded 35 runs without a wicket. No CTB batsman crossed 20 runs, and 7 of them failed to score in double digits. When playing the first game at home, Cape Town Blitz registered their second win against Jozi Stars thanks to Livingstone’s 51 balls 65. While defending the total of 183 runs, Sisanda Magala took 3 for 17 and Nortje grabbed 2 for 18 to help the team registered the 57 runs victory.
Playing at Durban against DH, Ackerman 43 off 34, Asif Ali 43 off 26 powered the team to a total of 174 while Steyn's 2 for 23 in his four overs proved match-winning. When it looked Wihan Lubbe (for DH 83 runs from 42 balls) would take the game away from CTB, Steyn removed him in his last and the team’s 15th over to change the course of the game. The team looks well balanced and for any team, defeating CTB would be a tough task.

Cape Town Blitz had a great season last year and they reached all the way to the finals. Except for the game against Paarl Rocks, Cape Town Blitz looked quite in control of the games and they have many match-winning players.
Nelson Mandela Bay Giants look promising from their first 3 games but playing against Cape Town Blitz and facing Dale Steyn won’t be an easy task for them even though they are playing at home. NMBG isn’t too weak against CTB, but the Blitz seems to have a slight advantage looking at the players and history of both the teams.
Our prediction is that Cape Town Blitz will defeat Nelson Mandela Bay Giants!
