The second game of the T-20 series between New Zealand and England will be played at Wellington on Sunday. New Zealand did not have the ideal start to the series as in the last game England has defeated them very convincingly by seven wickets. Furthermore, they have been outplayed by visitors in all three departments.
Batting first, men in black put a decent score however their bowlers failed to defend the score of 154. The team will be expecting more contribution from their top-order batsmen. Though New Zealand is more balanced compared to the opponent team, they failed to deliver good all-round performance in the preceding game. Men in black will be looking to put up a strong performance in all the departments and level the series.
On the other hand, England’s prime form in white-ball cricket continues. Even with playing with four debutants in the first game, visitors won it straightforwardly. James Vince was the protagonist in the previous victory. He was awarded man of the match for his match-winning knock of 59 runs. He alongside skipper Eoin Morgan put up a good partnership of 55 runs to secure the victory. The English team will be hoping for another clinical performance to get the second win in the series.

In the previous game, few batsmen got a start but they failed to convert it to a big one and that costs the team. Veteran Ross Taylor, with 44 runs was the leading scorer for Kiwis. But he got very little support from another end. R Taylor is the most experienced Kiwis player in the squad. He will be looking to contribute more and lead the batting unit.
The explosive opening duo of Martin Guptill and Colin Munro failed to make an impact in the last game. They would be keen to provide a good start and build the foundation for the victory. Martin Guptill has been in very ordinary form this year and he would be eager to get back in form with match-winning inning. Collin Munro with just 226 runs from last 10 innings has been the top scorer for Kiwis in last year. He smashed a century in practice game and also got a good start in the last game. He can be the match-winner for Kiwis in the second game.
Wicket keeper batsman, Tim Seifert, played a good impact knock of 32 but he played many deliveries. In the end overs, middle-order batsman Daryl Mitchell swings the bat hard to put the decent score on board. He smashed 30 from just 17 balls. He may be promoted in batting in upcoming games. In the pace attack, Kiwis got Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson and Scott Kuggeleijn. Bowling trio was wicket-less in the last match and that is also another reason behind the Kiwis failures.
They need to take advantage of home conditions and provide an early breakthrough. Spinner, Mitchell Santner, bowled outstandingly well in the first game, he picked 3 wickets and just conceded 23 runs in his four overs spell. However, his spin partner, Ish Sodhi was wicket-less and also went for over 9 runs per over. Key Player- Ross Taylor, Colin Munro, Mitchell Santner

Eoin Morgan and co. playing good quality all round white-ball cricket in recent times. They have won the last 6 consecutive T-20. In the preceding game, the earlier bowling unit did a remarkable job to restrict the home side on the below-par score. Later, top-order batsmen batted brilliantly to seal the victory without any difficulty. Hence, the England team is unlikely to make any change in playing eleven. English opening batsman Jonny Bairstow has been in great form in recent times. He scored 152 runs from the last fours T-20 games at an average of 38.00. He also scored 35 runs in the last game. He is very hitter off the ball and can take the game from an opponent in a few overs.
James Vince, the number three batsman grab the opportunity with both the hands. He played very impressively for his 59 runs knock. He would be keen to carry on good form and score more runs. In the middle order, skipper Eoin morgen and Sam Billings provides great stability. Both are very good players of spin bowling and can score quick runs as well in middle overs. England pace attack, comprising, Chris Jorden, Sam Curran and Tom Curran bowled remarkably in the last game. They were very disciplined and didn’t allow opponent batsmen to score freely.
Though Tom Curran was wicketless, he was very economical with the call conceded less than 7 runs per over. Chris Jorden was the standout English bowler, he picked 2 wickets for 28 runs in his four overs spell. Lead spinner Adil Rashid picked a lone wicket in the last game. According to the AccuWeather, the weather in Wellington on Sunday is partly cloudy during the game time. There is no hint for rainfall. Pacers should get some help with the overcast conditions at the venue.
Highest score at this venue is 219, while the highest successful chased is 163 runs.
Out of the last 11 completed T20s at the venue, 7 matches went in favour of the chasing team. So, we anticipate the team winning toss will definitely wish to bowl first.
England will come to this match high on confidence, following their easy victory in the earlier game and head to head stats against Kiwis. On the other hand, New Zealand has talent in both batting and bowing to seek resurgence versus England and square the series. However, their key players have failed to perform consistently in recent times.
Even so, we expect it to be a thrilling contest but England will have an edge considering the recent form and consistent performers in the side.
England will win this match!
