New Zealand seems to have mastered the art of how to take a game in the super-over and lose from there. Like the third match, New Zealand again failed to cross the finishing line in the 20th over despite being in a winning position. With just 7 needed in last over, they once again succumbed to the pressure, as they give away 4 wickets in the last six balls, which eventually prompted one more super-over, and India once again pulled it off in style thanks to the boundaries from KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. Hopefully, Kane Williamson will recover from the shoulder injury and play the final game, while Kohli and company are very close to clean-sweep the series with 5-0 stats.

New Zealand lost the series after losing the third game in the super-over, but now they seem to have lost the faith in the phenomena called super-over. New Zealand had to deal with another heartbreaking loss, as they lost the fourth game against India which ideally, they should have won in the regulated 20 overs. Their bowlers did a fantastic job to restrict the visitors at 165 after they opted to field first.
Sodhi took 3 wickets while Bennett grabbed 2 wickets while the rest of the bowlers shared one-one wicket. While chasing 166, Munro and Seifert constructed 74 runs partnership for the second wicket, while Taylor and Seifert added 62 together for the fourth wicket. While just 7 needed in the last 6 balls, Taylor once again got out in the final over, while Seifert, Mitchell, and Santner too couldn’t take the team past 165, which meant they again had to play the super-over.
With 14 to defend in the super-over, they stuck with Southee again, but unfortunately, he couldn’t offer a different result this time. Williamson had missed the game due to his shoulder injury, but he is expected to get recovered for the final game.
Colin Munro (285 runs in last 10 T20I games) is the leading run-scorer followed by Martin Guptill (251 runs in 10 innings) while Mitchell Santner leads to bowling unit with 17 wickets in previous 10 games followed by Tim Southee with 7 wickets in 10 games.

After sealing the T20I series in the super-over of the third game, India once again overpowered the hosts in the fourth T20I at Wellington. KL Rahul (26-balls 39) played well at the top while Manish Pandey came to the rescue of the team as he smashed 50 in just 36 balls which helped India reach a decent total of 165, after a few early wickets that jolted the visitors in the absence of Rohit Sharma, the hero of the third game.
Washington Sundar and Chahal proved to be expensive, but Bumrah from one end had blocked the run-flow with his 4 overs 1-for-20 and Thakur’s 4 overs 2-for-33 turned the match in India’s favor, as his two wickets came and additionally two run-outs occurred in the last over, which helped the visitors to take the match once again to the super-over. After the super-over win in the third game, the pressure was once again on the hosts. KL Rahul started the 14-runs chase by hitting a six and a four off the first-two balls while Kohli smashed a boundary in the fifth ball of the super-over to outclass the BLACKCAPS in the same fashion, once again.
KL Rahul (442 runs in 10 innings, strike rate 148.82) is the top-scorer for the team, followed by Virat Kohli (344 runs in 10 innings, strike rate 163.80), while Shardul Thakur contributed well with the bat and the ball in the previous game (4 overs 33 for 2 wickets and 20 runs off 15 balls).

On the match day, the weather here is forecasted to be patchy rain possible. Daytime temperature can reach 19°c while night-time minimum temperature is going to dip to 10°c. It will be mostly dry with little or no precipitation and cloud covering 43% of the sky, the humidity will be around 64%.
The match is scheduled to be played at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, which is relatively a new stadium. The first T20I match played here was in January 2016. The surface is very good for batting as it has usually witnessed very high scoring games.
At this venue, 6 T20 International matches are played so far, out of which 5 times the teams batting first have won while one game was abandoned. The average first and second innings scores here are 181 and 145, and the highest total posted here is 243/5 by New Zealand against West Indies. It is recommended to bat first after winning the toss.
Despite scoring 200 plus in the first game and coming so close to winning the third and the fourth game, New Zealand could not convert their chances into wins. Apparently, super-overs are not meant for the hosts and they need to look forward to finishing the game well before the last ball of the 20th over. India’s recent performances in T20 format are outstanding. This is their fourth consecutive T20I series win as they defeated Bangladesh, West Indies and Sri Lanka earlier. Overall and the recent statistics are completely in favour of the visitors.
Our prediction is that India will defeat New Zealand and sweep the series 5-0.
