The second game of the two-match series between New Zealand will be played at Hagley Oval stadium in Christchurch from Saturday. The home side New Zeland had a remarkable win over India in the first test match where they have outplayed the visitors in all aspects of the game. New Zealand (348 & 9/0) defeated India (165 & 191) by 10 wickets in Wellington. Time Southee was the star performer with the bowl; he picked nine wickets. After losing the T20 series earlier, Kiwis were very dominant as it was their fourth consecutive win including 3-0 in ODI.
New Zealand's pace attack looked to be very intimidating as the Indian batsmen were on edge playing against them in the previous game. Ken Williamson and co. would look for similar dominant performance and clean swept the test series.
India, on the other hand, failed to register their eighth consecutive test win. Besides, it was also India’s first defeat in the test championship. But the fact is, it will raise the alarm for India as they were outplayed by Kiwis in all three departments and the prime bowler Jasprit Bumrah could pick just a single wicket in bowler-friendly condition.
Nonetheless, India is a champion side and also the ICC top-ranked test team and they have all the resources to bounce back. But, Virat Kohli and co. need to pull up their socks in the second game to level the series.

New Zealand carried on where they left off in the ODI series as they produced a clinical display to defeat India by 10 wickets in the first of two Test matches against the tourists and they will be confident of backing that up in Christchurch. The bowling attack comprising of Tim Southee, Trent Boult and Kyle Jamieson set the tone for victory in first inning itself by restricting batting heavy Indian side below 200. Later, batting is led by skipper ken Williamson himself; he scored outstanding knock of 89 runs in difficult playing condition. Debutant Kyle Jamieson had a dream start to the test international. He picked four wickets and also scored crucial 44 runs batting in the lower order. He is a great prospect to watch in the coming game.
Likewise, opponent, Kiwis batting line-up is pretty stable and strong. The opening duo of Tom Latham and Tom Blundell would look to provide goos opening stand in the second game. Tom Blundell has got great success in the Test series against Aussies and also played good impact knock in the last match. At three, skipper Ken Williamson; ICC fourth-ranked test batsman. He possesses great techniques and temperament considered necessary to get success in the longer format of the game. He is the player to watch out for in any contest. Skipper Ken Williamson averages 51.74 whereas Veteran Ross Taylor averages 45.69 in test matches. A lot would depend on the batting duo to score most of the runs against quality Indian attack.
In the bowling department, the return of Trent Boult makes the Kiwis attack dreadful. Tim Southee was outstanding in the previous game; picked nine wickets and was also awarded man of the match for bowling performance. Bowling group would be hoping for a similar performance in the last game of the series.

Despite losing the previous game, we feel India is unlikely to make any changes as it will give another opportunity for the players to rectify their mistakes and bounce back strongly. The opener Mayank Agarwal was India’s top scorer in the previous game. He got to a good start in both innings but not able to convert it to a big one. He scored a total of 92 runs in the last match. His partner Prithvi Shaw failed to make a mark. He is attacking batsman and likes to play his natural game.
The Onus will be on India’s key player Virat Kohli, C Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane to score the bulk of the runs. The batting trio has been in excellent form in last year and consistently score runs. Skipper Virat Kohli, arguably one of the best batsmen in world cricket at the moment. Notably, he is currently a top-ranked ICC test batsman. However, he is short of runs in the last couple of games in the ongoing tour. We expect him to bounce back and score a big inning. C Pujara also didn’t look comfortable against the Kiwis bowler. His determination and concentration to play long inning make him a very special player in test games. Virat Kohli averages 54.31 and C Pujara averages 48.53 in test matches.
The formidable Indian bowling comprising Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma looks very ordinary in the previous game. They were not up to the mark and failed to consistently bowl with accuracy. Bowling trio need to come up with a different strategy against the strong Kiwis side.

Temperatures will range from 17-22c in generally cloudy skies but there is a little chance of rain during the Test. The overcast conditions will assist the swing bowler and both sides got good swing bowlers.
The match will be played at Hagley Oval stadium in Christchurch. The Venue offers good bouncy pitch expected to play the same during the course of the game.
Out of last 6 test matches played at this venue, three times team bowling first won the game whereas only twice times batting the first team won the game.
Besides, In New Zealand, compared to other countries, the first and innings score is usually less and witnessed higher scorer in third and fourth innings. The batting becomes easier as the match goes one. Hence, after winning the toss, the team is likely to bowl first
Though India holds a very strong win record in the test championship and also the top-ranked test team at present, they are struggling in the New Zealand conditions to display their top performance. Visitors bowlers also failed to take advantage of the overcast conditions. On the other hand, New Zealand is in magnificent form in all aspects of the game and we expect New Zealand will clean-sweep the series 2-0.
