The first game of the three-match T-20 series between New Zealand and West Indies will commence on 27th march at Eden Pak, Auckland. Both the teams will be playing the international cricket after quite some time, however many from both the teams have played good cricket in last few months across the T20 leagues like IPL and CPL, so they are in good touch. New Zealand despite a very good side in ODI and Test, their recent record in T20 is not that great. Kiwis have lost the last two T20 series against India and England, and they are on a seven-match losing streak in T20 cricket. Considering the T20 world Cup is not far away, Kiwis would be eying to build the team starting from this series. So, Tim Southee led New Zealand side will be aiming for a better return in T20 cricket and improve the ICC T20 ranking.
On the other, two times ICC T20 champion team, West Indies had a poor run in T20 lately. They got plenty of firepower and all-rounder in their rank however they were not consistent and collectively they have failed to perform against big teams. However, on a given day, they can beat any team hence it won't be easy for the opponent team. The Windies player has been brilliant in the shorter format of the game but they need to be consistent playing in away conditions. K Pollard led Windies team will be eying for a clinical performance take 1-0 lead in the series.

At No 3, Glen Phillips is likely to fill the big shoes of regular skipper Williamson. Tim Seifert, Jimmy Neesham, and Mitchell Santner will for the middle order. Martin Guptill has been outstanding for Kiwis in the shorter format of the game, he has scored 2536 runs at ana average of 32.51. Defending T20 champion team West Indies current rank in T20 is not the grat however their side is very formidable in the shorter of the games. In the three-match series, Windies will be without their key players Chris Gayle, Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis but they got good youngster in their rank tow in this series. Skipper Kieron Pollard is in great form, we witnessed his power hitting in recently concluded CPL and IPL 2020. He will be ready to lead the team from the front, his good form in this series will be very vital for Windies in winning the series. At the top, A Fletcher and B King are likely to open the batting. Fletcher has a good CPL, he scored 211 runs in CPL 2020 and he averages 41.67 against Kiwis. At number 3 & 4, they got two of their best young batsmen; S Hetmyer and N Pooran, batting-duo is in solid form and can play the match-winning knock.
In the middle-order, Kieron Pollard, K Paul and R Powell will provide great fire-power and depth in Windies batting. On the bowling front, S Cottrell, Oshane Thomas, and Kesrick Williams will form the pace attack. S Cottrell has done a great job for Windies in last year, and he is also currently 9th ranked ICC T20 bowler. Medium-pacer Keemo Paul and K Pollard will give extra bowling options for Windies. Spin bowling all-rounder F Allien is likely to be the lone spinner for West Indies.

Weather in Auckland on Friday exected to be cloudy. The temperature will be around 18-degree Celcius whereas Humdity will be around 77%. There is a 15% chance of rain meaning there could be an interruption in the first T20. Eden Park features a drop-in pitch and is generally slowish. Good for batting and is hard on the bowlers. The pitch has produced many high scoring encounters in the last few years. 245 has been the highest score at this venue
The match will be played at Eden Park in Auckland. With a capacity of 50,000, Eden Park is easily the largest stadium in New Zealand. Its straight boundaries are as small as 55 meters, which gives the batsmen an edge. Even top edges fly over the boundary.
Records are in favour both batting first and second team. However, as it will be the first game of the series so both team would look to bat second. Hence, we expect the team winning the toss will look to bowl first at this venue.
The Kiwis recent record at this venue is not good, they lost the last four games. Besides, Kiwis lacks firepower in their rank and depth in bowling. On the other hand, Windies have plenty of power-hitter and all-rounder in their rank. They also got the depth in their bowling. Moreover, small boundaries are in favour of Windies.
We predict West Indies will win this match.
