After a mind-boggling victory in the game at Bay Oval, hosts New Zealand would play hard to seal the series in the coming T20 and settle scores for the defeat in the one-dayers. Bowling first, New Zealand restricted the rivals to a total of 116 in the first T20I, and successfully chased the scoreline with 9 wickets in hand, courtesy the top-notch exhibitions from openers Rachel Priest (37) and Sophie Devine (54*). Although there wasn’t much role of their batting department as it was a seemingly chasable total, one could still bank on the same to render match-winning exhibitions in the forthcoming duel.
Meanwhile, South Africa Women would be hoping to bounce back in the game at Seddon Park. The defeat in the first T20I would have been a big setback for the tourists considering they won a 3-0 whitewash over the Kiwis in the ODIs and were wishing to emulate the same in the T20Is. The Chloe Tryon-captained side needs to notch up their batting performance in order to survive in the competition, else a victory would look far from possible in the coming bout.

Openers Sophie Devine and Rachel Priest put up a winning foundation for the hosts in the recent outing and will be banked to replicate their performances in the second T20I. Suzie Bates could be havoc at the top-order once set in the middle. In the middle-order, all eyes would be on the duo of Maddy Green and Katie Perkins as they would pivotal positions for their side in case the top-order departs early in the competition.
In the bowling department, it was the effort from the trio of Leigh Kasperek (2/17), Amelia Kerr (2/17), Hayley Jenson (1/18) which proved vital behind New Zealand’s conquest at Bay Oval. Amelia Kerr, in particular, would be expected to spearhead the bowling attack, taking into account her experience of the T20s wherein she holds stellar numbers to her name. Lea Tahuhu (0/13) and Suzie Bates (0/24) were economical in the previous game and are likely to replicate a similar show in the must-win feud.

Laura Wolvaardt (33) and Nadine de Klerk (23) were in decent touch in the previous contest and will carry the onus of scoring the bulk of runs for the tourists in the must-win encounter. Lizelle Lee is another vital prospect who could be a game-changer for the South Africa Women with her stupendous batting prowess. Although she couldn’t do much in the earlier played game, one could surely vouch for her to get a decent amount of runs at the top-order. Mignon du Preez and skipper Chloe Tryon were a flop show in the last outing and will be itching to get the winning runs for the team in Hamilton.
Bowling wise, left-arm pacer Shabnim Ismail would hold the key for South African women in scalping the early breakthroughs. Her swing potency could be of great benefit to the tourists amidst the conditions of Seddon Park. Ayabonga Khaka (0/32) and Masabata Klaas (0/25) were a bit expensive in their respective overs but there’s a strong hunch that the duo will bounce back in the coming game.

A bright and sunny day awaits both the teams with the temperature hovering between 19-23 degrees Celsius. Excellent cricketing conditions for the participating teams and thus, a high scoring contest could be put to display.
The wicket at Seddon Park offers great help to the batters with 172 being the average 1st innings total. Although there would be some bounce for the pacers, it is the batsmen who will clearly be at an advantage.
The toss winning team should look to bowl first on this occasion. The majority of T20s played here have been won by the team batting second and as there will be clear skies throughout, it would only be advisable for the toss winning skipper to choose to bowl first.
New Zealand Women looked in total control in the previous game and would be hoping to put up a cracker of a display in the coming duel.
With the Kiwi bowling attack capable of restricting the opposition to a petty total, the hosts go as the favorites for the game at Seddon Park.
