The T20 series has so far been a one-sided affair. In the two games played in the 5-match series hosts New Zealand Women have registered comprehensive wins. Their batting has won the game convincingly and as they go into the next game they will be looking to bag the series. The South African side after its strong performance in the ODI series has not been able to match up to the challenge thrown at them by the Kiwi women.
South Africa Women haven’t had the best run in this format of the game for almost a year and their batters are not been able to set the pace of the game. Their record against the Kiwis is poor and they have so far managed to win just one T20 game against the hosts. With a series loss on the cards, the South African side will need to come up with a very strong show in the next game to keep their hopes alive for the rest of the series

After the triumphing win in the first game, Sophie Devine’s side registered yet another convincing win in the 2nd T20 to take 2-0 lead in the series. Their batters and bowlers played complementary roles to help the side win. Devine would now want her girls to go for the kill after the whitewash they suffered in the ODIs.
The opening pair of Devine and Rachel Priest has already made 150 runs between them in two games and they will look to provide yet another good start to the side. Suzie Bates is also looking in good form at the moment. Maddy Green, Katie Perkins and Katey Martin are good hitters of the ball and down the order, they will be looking to toy around with South Africa’s bowling attack that has failed to impress. Leigh Kasperek has been in good form with the ball and she will look to pick early wickets with Rosemary Mair. They have bowled with good economy rates in the two games. Lea Tahuhu has also done well in two games. With Hayley Jensen and Sophie Devine bowling tight spells, the side has a good balance in its bowling attack.

It is a big challenge for Chloe Tryon and her girls after suffering two consecutive defeats. In both the games the side didn’t even come close to winning and this is something that would worry the skipper. They need to win this game to avoid a series defeat and Tryon would want her girls to believe in themselves and meet fire with fire. Laura Wolvaardt and Lizelle Lee have scored runs at the top but the problem has been the below-par scoring rate. The same has been the case with Nadine de Klerk and Mignon du Preez and they will need to push up the scoring rate in the next game.
In Tryon and Trisha Chetty, they have good batting to follow and the top-order needs to lay a strong platform going into the game. Their bowlers haven’t done well either in the two games and the side would be disappointed with Masabata Klaas who has gone for runs. Shabnim Ismail and Ayabonga Khaka also haven’t been consistent and they will need to inflict damage with the new ball. The side will also need good show from Dane van Niekerk who impressed with her tight spell in the last game.

It will be clear skies in Wellington on February 09 and the conditions would be perfect for batting. We have seen several high scoring games at this venue in the recent times as the ball comes on to the bat nicely. There is early support for the bowlers as well and the side that bats first will need to eye a score of 160 runs on this surface.
The pitch at Basin Reserve, Wellington is known for offering bounce and pace to the fast bowlers. At the same time the stroke making is easy as the ball comes on to the bat nicely here. The large dimension of the ground makes it a challenge for the batters to score boundaries here especially in women’s cricket.
In both the games we have seen the side winning the toss and electing to bowl. There is early moisture on the surface which is making batting slightly difficult. The pitch has eased out as the game has progressed and we expect the team winning the toss to bowl first in the next game.
The fortunes have changed in this series as we have moved from the ODIs to the T20s. South Africa Women looked in brilliant form in the ODIs but suddenly seem to have no clues on how to approach the T20 games.
The Kiwis, on the other hand, have got their act together and their batters, as well as bowlers, are looking in great form at the moment. Going into the game the hosts would start as favorites to win and take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series.
