New Zealand Women have already clinched the series 5-match 3-1 after their 69 run wins in the fourth game. It has been an absolutely dominating performance from the Kiwis after the poor show they had during the ODIs. As for South Africa Women, it has been a story of failures. Not only has the side performed poorly in most of the games during the series but they have failed play according to the pace of T20 cricket.
South Africa Women have an extremely poor record in this format of the game against New Zealand Women and have only defeated them twice. This is likely to play in their minds going into this game. New Zealand Women having got the upper hand in the series will be aiming to go for the kill and finish the series 4-1 as this will mark perfect preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

After losing the 3rd game New Zealand Women bounced back to win the 4th game convincingly by 69 runs to take the series 3-1. As the side goes into the next game skipper Sophie Devine will be hoping to make it 4-1 as her side is looking in brilliant form at the moment. Sophie Devine has made 297 runs in the series and looks in good form. She scored a brilliant hundred in the last game and along with Lauren Down will look to provide the side with a good start in the game. Suzie Bates has also scored runs in the series at No. 3. With Maddy Green, Hayley Jensen and Amelia Kerr down the order the side has good batting going into this game.
Their bowling attack also looks in a good rhythm at the moment with Jess Kerr and Anna Peterson troubling the South Africans with the new ball. Rosemary Mair has also done well in the series. Amelia Kerr and Devine add variety to this bowling attack and they will look to keep the scoring rate for the South Africans under check as they have done in previous games.

Dane van Niekerk side doesn’t seem to have clues on how to approach a T20 game. They were poor with the bat and the ball in the last game and their very approach while batting has raised many questions. They will have to play for pride in the next game and the skipper would want her players to come up with a better show in the game.
At the top, the form of Laura Wolvaardt and Lizelle Lee has been the biggest let down for the team in this series. They have not been able to provide positive starts in any of the games. Dane van Niekerk, Chole Tryon and Mignon du Preez will have to score runs in the middle in the next game after their failure in the last one. It is their batting that needs to come out of the shell for the side to win. Their bowlers also have failed in the series and Shabnim Ismail and Chole Tryon were the only two bowlers who stood out in the last game. Nonkululeko Mlaba has to do well with the new ball in the game and the likes of Ayabonga Khaka and skipper Dane van Niekerk will have to bowl tighter lines in the game.

It will be a cold and overcast afternoon at Dunedin on February 13 and there are also chances of rain. Batting would be a challenge on this wicket as the ball is expected to move around sideways. Fast bowlers will enjoy bowling on this surface and we expect a score in the range of 140 runs to be a good one on this surface.
The pitch at University Oval, Dunedin is a tricky surface to bat on as it offers good assistance to the fast bowlers. The shorter square boundaries are an advantage to the batters as they can easily score runs. It is by and large a wicket that evens it out between the batsmen and the bowlers.
There would be early moisture on the surface and the bowlers would look to exploit it. Batting would get easy as the evening progresses. Most teams prefer to chase in T20 cricket these days and going into this game the side that wins the toss should have no hesitation in opting to bowl first.
New Zealand Women have clearly been the side that has dominated in this series and South Africa Women other than their performance in the 3rd game have been beaten squarely in all the games.
The visitors have been behind the pace of the game and their batters have never looked to put pressure on the opponents. Going into the next game we expect New Zealand Women to start way ahead of South Africa Women and win this game easily.
